I certainly understand your viewpoint from a philosophical standpoint. But the problem develops because we have set up the globe to operate in a certain way. When I want to travel into another country, I use a passport.

We designed the system, and we should follow it or change it. When we don't follow it, it becomes problematic.

I realize I have stated the obvious, but still, sometimes we have to go with the flow. Follow the rules.

Agreed.

How stupid it is of tiny pieces of dust though, to set up such rules. I am not advocating for rebellion of rules. Just humanity toward other humans.

What does president Trump do when Mexico says, Okay we'll build your wall. And we'll gladly do it for free...

Then proceed to build the flimsiest piece of crap wall imaginable in which a child could climb over…
What does he do then?

Enough for you to capitalize "Human Species". So yes, people can do it. If they wanted too.

Why does a human being have to be illegal?

Why?

What makes a human illegal in your eyes? And think about that.

Legality exists because nations need to control who is within their borders. Borders exist because different groups of people have different opinions on what should be the law and we need to create jurisdictions for different groups of laws in order to coexist. If there was no legality involved in changing borders one nation could invade the other.

Does the US-Canadian border get a wall too?
How about the west coast pacific ocean wall?
How about the east coast Atlantic ocean wall?

They might as well just come out and say it's "The Latino Immigration Reform".

Yes we do have a huge illegal Canadian problem here that needs to be sorted out ASAP!

Funny you say that.

If I remember correctly all of the hijackers of 9/11 came in through the northern border.

Uh...no they didn't. Napolitano was erroneous on that as well

Oddly enough, entering through Canada remains the best option if that's your goal. Securing the Mexican border doesn't change that. What no one wants to talk about is that our border is already secured on the Mexican side. We essentially pay the cartels by letting them ship drugs and people over here and in exchange they keep anyone out that we really don't want like terrorists. Just what did you think the US was doing by supporting the Sinaloas and others?

This also happens to be the real problem with building a wall. The US doesn't have the power to stop the cartels if we get on their bad side so shutting them down would cause way more issues than it would in theory solve.

All of that may or may not be true, depending upon whom you believe. I have lived in Arizona for 20 years and I have seen and heard every argument imaginable regarding this topic. Napolitano played both sides on this issue, she was for enforcement as governor and for amnesty as a Fed. The whole thing is ridiculous.

My belief is that the only foreign terrorists we have to fear are the ones that the government wants here...ISIS, AL QUEDA, the North Koreans, it doesn't matter.

How could we force Mexico to pay for the wall?

Most immigrants are not from Mexico.... but from countries further South.

Perhaps the Donald could force Mexico to build a wall on there southern border......

stupid really

Throwing some huge fines on the companies that keep hiring legals seems like a better plan.

Not all employers who hire illegals are a 'company".

I work for a casino, on our property we have a horse racing track. There are plenty of illegal immigrants. They are not hired by the Casino. They are hired by the owners of the horses. An individual.

If you're in Arizona you should be aware of the Tohono O’odham Indians. Their reservation is huge, the part that's in the US is larger than Connecticut and it goes right through the border with Mexico. They don't have the resources to patrol it, and frankly they have no desire to either. I've been to the reservation, it's a major crossing point for illegals, I've seen them with my own eyes. They pile out of a truck a mile down road from the checkpoint, cross through the middle of the desert on foot, and get back in the truck on the other side of the checkpoint. How do we stop that? We can't build a wall through the middle of their reservation and it's equally improbable to build the wall around their reservation. It's also too costly to patrol by air 24/7.

Increased fees on NAFTA? Is he aware that there are more than 2 countries in that pact?

So basically he wants a wall, make Mexico pay for it and if they don't he's going to hamper people LEGALLY trying to enter the States? Did I read that right?

Yes, you read that right that is exactly what he's proposing. The amazing part is people think that it's a good idea.

Trump doesn't personally hire or vet everyone involved in the construction projects. He has a team who hires a team of subcontractors (Lend Lease Group in this case) who then hire teams (illegals and otherwise) to do the construction jobs.

Is it his team's fault (and thus a reflection of him) for not personally vetting every employee used by the subcontractors? I guess that's up for debate. Usually they take it in good faith that federal laws are being followed, but most know subcontractors dabble in using illegal alien labor. He had to use these contractors to build some buildings tho because that's how it's done in the private sector. No reason to hate Trump for that. The system is screwed up. That's what he wants to change.

As far as illegal immigrant "busboys" or "maids" working as bonafide "Trump" employees tho such as in Trump Tower or on his golf courses, that's not true at all. Trump hires only legal citizens, and even gives 15-16 year olds jobs. That's how Amanda Miller got started (tho being so sexy helped).

We don't live back in the 1700s and 1800,s for immigration now.We have a country made of laws now and a government to help protect lawlessness.Trump will have to tweek some of the stuff with His immigration plan.People have got to understand that this cannot keep going on forever.
If you would do nothing there would be 40 million or more illegal immigrants in the future. Not one single one would be paying taxes. That would be a total massive disaster and collapse the whole country with that many people not paying taxes.Half to use common sense.

Well, if you listen to some the Constitution is the only thing that matters.

And the same was said about the Irish, Italians, etc. Would have said the same about the Natives but.... well, a different tack there.

Can't you see what Trump is doing?

He's creating the GOP dialog that all Republicans are going to have to answer to. Trump has stolen the spotlight and is in control of the narrative. When his ship made of BS melts a lot of people are going to be pissed off and ignore the elections.

Now who does that favor?

It's just all Trump BS....he knows without Mexicans to harvest the crops....Food prices will skyrocket and drive inflation thru the roof.
