It raises the question whether the whole system of university is obsolete. I agree that from a financial return sense, both to the individual and society in general B.A.'s are B.S..

The science types have probably always questioned the arts types. Yet an argument can be made that the quality of life and society's inspiration is fanned by the arts. Who knows?

Yet, the very idea of 'free university' opens the door to the very point you make. Where's the value in a B.A.? Now the gov't dictates what is valuable and what is not? Ouch. Not a scenario I 'd like for my grandchildren.

At least the current system allows one to take what one wants as he's paying for it. His choice, his call. Opening the door to a gov't official decided what's valuable and what's not, even more gov't control is a non-starter in my books.

I would not go that far!

Where would you get the doctors, architects, engineers and scientists from!

You really want a doctor with no formal education operating on you? Or the bridge your truck dives on to be have been built without skilled architects and engineers?

There are some academic subjects the world ticks round.

As for the arts? Well in my opinion the best artists have not been taught in university but it has come natural to them.

As for scholarships? Many from the poor backgrounds who would never have a chance to become doctors and scientists rely on them.
These people will always go on to good jobs and become bigger contributions to society. There is a net return.
Better they get help to do these things and grow the economy than live them to fester in the ghettos to work minimum wage jobs or worse be unemployed.

If a bright person from a poor background passes all the tests then it to me seems a no brainier to help them get a REAL and VALUABLE degree so they can go on to be contributing members of society.

As for a blank check for all non essential degrees? NO!

Obama's people used fear? That wasn't fear and that's because a legit war was on going. No travel ban to Palestine? See, right here I hope you're kidding but I get the feeling you're dead serious. Do you really think Palestine has an international airport?

I'm done talking about Netanyahu but as far as missiles flying into Israel, it's still on going and has been since the turn of the century, during his watch.

Btw, which Republican are you supporting? You created a fail hit piece thread about Sanders so I'd love to know who you are going to vote for. Maybe someone will do a hit piece thread about that person?

I didn't say a word about 'fear'. My point re the travel ban was the airport had little to no chance of being hit by some unguided missile launched by the Palestinians.

A 'travel ban' includes all form of transportation, not just international airports. Do you see any travel bans to Syria? Iraq?

Obama playing games because Israel doesn't buy into Obama's 'vision' for the middle east. The man is a joke...and a Democrat.

I'm undecided who I support more. I'd have said Walker, but due to his late announcement and little campaign monies left for him to receive, I suspect a deal has been made. perhaps a number two slot or cabinet position.

Carly Fiorina really impressed me. Articulate, a business professional. She's moved up to number two for me and perhaps number one.

As far as 'hits' go, I got tired of all the pro-Sanders threads expounding what a wonderful guy he is. A vanilla media asking the easy questions just because they're tired of Hillary and her antics.

Many of us don't see him as any solution whatsoever. If you take that as a hit, sobeit.

I like fiona too, she like a more sane donald Trump.

Paul still got the top spot.

Personally my opinion is :
If you want a good right candidate vote pual

If you want a good left candidate vote sanders.

If you like the status quo of crony capitalism, stagnant economics vote for bush, clinton, biden, chritie or graham as they all pretty much interchangeable.

If you want to go full retard vote trump.

Walker im on the fence on. You could do worse, but you could do better.

Whever the USA goes left or right I dont care, its up to you guys to decide that and what road you take. But at least pick a good candidate.

But you did use the word fear... "
Your right. Obama's people used the 'fear of rockets' etc. as their reasoning. "

Travel bans from the U.S. to anywhere in the Middle East usually mean aircraft. I don't think anyone is driving from New York to Israel, Syria, or Iraq, but speaking of the last two, their are travel restrictions due to civil war and terrorism. The travel restriction to Israel was short lived because of the Gaza war. Wars cause travel restrictions.

So you support Walker? Can't say I know anything about him but I'll look him up and see what's doing. Same goes for Fiorina, never heard of her so I got my homework to do.

Your thread is clearly a Sanders hit piece but are you just as tired of all the Trump threads? I know I am.

I'm just waiting for, if and when, Sanders moves past Hillary in the polls and some real questions are asked of him. His support of Obama? Does he support the "open borders' of Hillary? His support of the Iranian agreement? Obamacare?

He's been a good boy to the party over the years-which is more than enough condemnation for me-and has the ATS socialist crowd drooling all over him.

Sooner or later, even with media kid gloves, his backing Obama will bite him in the ass. It has the whole democrat party and it will him too.....

You need to let the Iran deal go. There was NOTHING the USA could do, it was diplomatically backed into a corner.

Sure on a individual level the USA could diplomatically go toe to toe with UK,France,Germany, China and Russia.
But they were ALL against the USA. You were diplomatically out numbed in a hopeless way.

If the USA gad gone solo on this it would have been a disaster! Military option would have not been a option. The UK and French public at the moment are 100% against military strikes or supporting them. That would mean no Diego Garcia or Cyprus or access to EU airspace making quick clean strikes near impossible. sure it would be "possible" but it would be massively more risky and expensive. Not only that you alienate the UK your closest most reliable and powerful Ally and the French and Germans.

That would leave the USA isolated alone in the world with only Israel and Saudi Arabia as "friends".....
I know you love Israel in a massive way but lets face it, they are only in it for themselves like Saudi Arabia.
Least the UK and EU have some sort of connection to you as family.

Military action off the table that just left sanction that were clearly not working......

BUT

~This deal gives the USA and its allies a advantage.
If Iran reneges on the deal, Iran is screwed. The UK and I will put money on France two will be pissed at being back stabbed and the USA will get all the support it needs for strikes along with our air forces too.
The deal backs Iran into a corner now. If they break it they clearly will be the "bad" guys and loss any moral high ground. Military action becomes justified.

OK, allowing your premise is accurate, WTF happened to the solidarity that was present from the Euros that were worried about missile/nuclear development in Iran?

The whole argument to place ABMs in The Ukraine was a 'block/defense' against Iranian 'potentials'. More or less Europe was backing the U.S. sanctions-I don't believe for a minute that all Euro nations feel the way your present it either, by the way.

Then there's the other ME nations that don't want Iran nuked up whatsoever, either. Now add in the Israel factor.....

By the way, I don't love them as you state. No angels whatsoever. Just preferable to the alternative. I do admire the Kurds, the Egyptian people raised their stock, in my eyes, with their massive protests and the somewhat more stabilized nation. Even the Libyans firing on the Turk ship impressed. Jordan? ...Ok, I guess. The Saudis? Which ones? Let God sort em out..

Then there's the likely Presidential change. That could be a complete game changer.

Bottom line for me is STILL no nukes for Iran or anyone else in the ME, for that matter. When that last line is crossed?...

The EU especially france is still anti nuclear Iran.

But I can say from the UK and France we are 100% against militarily action as the situation currently stands.
There would be zero public support.

As current sanctions seemed pointless we have just decided to try a more diplomatic route.

The deal still specificaly denys iran nukes.

If iran renage on this deal they will have France and the UK to deal with along with the USA and israel.

If any thing this deal has now backed iran into a corner. If they break it they will have the EU and USA knocking at the door.

Iran has no choice but to play nice. If they dont no one will stop the US bombs falling on them.

Well, to be honest, I haven't seen it in that light. IF that scenario plays out, fine.

I still fear Iranian intentions are to present a fiat accompli. In that scenario, France, Britain, even the U.S. blink.

It will fall to Israel...
