I couldn't find the video I watched, unfortunately. I did find this; though. You might find if interesting. Abyss movie trivia
Ed Harris (who plays Virgil "Bud" Brigman) almost drowned making the movie.

Several actors threatened to walk midway through filming. The filming conditions were horrible for everyone.

Same wet genre, a little worse execution and kind of teeny---
but stupid/entertaining/campy, Deep Star Six. Miguel Ferrer
was a real weasel in that one, but you have to admire the guy's
range for pulling it off. Greg Evigan/Nancy Everhard as the BF/GF
and a decent ensemble considering the script.
Beware the mollusk! Get the propcorn and rubber pot...!
Mick at the end, I won't spoil it for you -- but it was hilarious and
due to no bubbles of any consequence escaping, scientifically WRONG.
But it's still Oscar Clip crap... my sides hurt for hours.

It sounded like it. One actress actually walked off the set because the camera broke down.

That's right. I forgot that they used a nuclear reactor to film in.

Deep Star Six and there was also Leviathan.

It seemed like there was a trend there in "pair" movies. These two were like Armageddon and Deep Impact.

Try a movie called Wizards. It's a late 70s early 80s movie. Animated movie. Or another animated movie from the same Era called Fire and Ice. I did love Abyss. What about The Dark Crystal?

And the Abyss was also great.

The fact that a remastered bluray containing both the theatrical and directors cut is criminal.

Just noticed I screwed this sentence up. I meant to say that it is criminal that this movie hasn't been released on Bluray. The word is that Cameron has been working on new remastered editions of The Abyss and True Lies (another underrated movie). However, now that he is working on THREE sequels to Avatar, it's been pushed back.
