Forget the future, forget about real issues and problems.
There's Confederate ghosts lurking about that must be exorcised!
Schools, roads, military camps - all manner of public things named for military figures who briefly fought for independence are now the targets for the SPLC who would like to see them all renamed in the name of "ending hate".
Seems to me more like they're stoking up hate, doesn't it look that way to you?

This is your history folks, your ancestors who are now the targets of the new hate inquisition.
History simply is what it is and we can either learn it and learn from it or forget it and just repeat the same mistakes over and over.
You think this movement will end if they just get rid of things about the Confederacy?
No, it's just the start and will spread to engulf our entire history from 1776 to present.
All of it will be judged unfit and cleansed away - the founding fathers? - slave owners, everyone connected to the genocide of Native Americans from the Plymouth colony to the Mormons in Utah, the railroad barons who used Chinese slave labor to connect the country, the imperialism overseas from the Philippines to Cuba to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Confederacy is just the beginning folks.
The reason being to make people accept a One World Government they must first destroy everything that binds a nation together; it's borders and It's people (thus unlimited immigration), it's culture, customs and it's history
The SPLC is doing their little part in helping destroy the United States as we know it with their newest ploy in historical whitewashing.

This needs to stop here because if it doesn't it will sweep ALL our history away and with it the memory of the acts that created this country.
Europe is under a similar assault but some places there it is illegal to even criticize immigration policies.
Funny how unlimited immigration is a one-way street.
Not so funny once you realize it's all in the name of ruling the planet through a New World Order.

Historical revisionism is a vile practice that robs a people of the framework in which to judge where their country is, where it was...and ultimately...where it wishes to go as a society moving forward.

This has shades of every tyrannical government that has ever been.

What the US has become is truly frightening.

Sounds like they mirroring the ACLU's tactics on Christian symbols and monuments. Socialism / Communism marches on.....

Any of this sound familiar?

Communist Goals:

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

Well said.
What scares me is how little most people actually know of their own history and how quick they are to judge people and movements from using the yardstick of current morality. It truly was a different world back then and so were the people.

As you sagely said we need the yardstick to measure our progress by.
Without it we may as well go backwards while believing it to be progress.

A few years ago, the SPLC splashed some headlines here on ATS,
they were a controversial source of painting patriots like Ron Paul
and his supporters as people who were worthy of scrutiny as
potential terrorist activity. Looking back on that, it seemed
crazy at that time the SPLC had any credibility.

Now It is obvious where this leads to, and the scary thing
is I heard mention of the them on mainstream news last week,
someone or some organization they had "identified", as if
the SPLC was a credible source or organization!

How did this happen? It is time to take another deep look into this.

The Confederate War Memorial on our downtown square here in Denton Texas USA, was vandalized more than a month ago by someone with red paint painting this is racist across the front of it. Ok, done, made the rounds on Facebook, Local News, but no riots, no uprising, no CNN pretty much a non story.

The next day a Black man is standing by it with a shotgun, No uprising, no riots, no CNN, no Fox Nationwide, still a non story.

Well, last night on Fox news out of Dallas runs a story about it, only to tell everyone that the city put up cameras to help protect it, another non story. Yet, it has made the rounds now 3 times no protest, no riots, no uprising...

It is like they can't figure out why people aren't flipping out about it. They want us upset and fighting amongst ourselves, so we don't notice what they are doing, which is clearly preparing for some BIG event. They want us on some other $#@!, and unprepared so when whatever is coming, comes and it will come, people will be lining up for a spot in the camps, begging for them to save them. Fema is the next savior, the new Jesus.

Since ATS, is a conspiracy discussion site I'd like to put forward another view. One I'm certain I did not come up with first, and has probably been mentioned before. Racism is just a façade, a front. SPLC is a fanatical statist organization, that views "support for personal liberty" as a trait of terrorists, and extremists. They espouse, the concept of constitutional observance as a near mental illness, and again a trait found in terrorists and sociopathic extremists.

They are not erasing racism, or hatred. They are erasing the history, the shared belief of, and effectiveness of defiance against a central authority. They don't want to whitewash slavery, or bigotry from future generations. They want to remove the concept of rebellion.

Let the SPLC target the Albert Pike memorial in Washington, DC. See how far that goes.

SPLC is a jewish scam org much like the ADL. Both run on portraying a never ending image of the white devil out to get everyone, while making millions in the process.

At the very least there is evidence of ACLU and NAACP offering help to all kinds of people.

It isnt "history" that is the source of racism. Its the present. What can be done about that? Nothing.

Do people really think its "the color of skin" that causes hate? Thats a complete myth. Its the culture of criminality, violence and generational welfare imposition. If we want to be honest.

Hi BTS! Nice to see you and thanks for posting.
Like any government organization the SPCL must create a need for itself. Where there is no hate they will invent it or conflate something way out of proportion and make it seem threatening.
Once upon a time they were called Klanwatch and all they did was monitor white supremacist groups.
I actually used to give them financial support back in the 80's and believed in what they were doing.
Now they have a list of something like 400 supposed hate groups in the US?

You're correct about the labelling of Constitutionalists and Ron Paul supporters as dangerous.
That was when my jaw hit the floor quite honestly.
Anything that is in danger of supporting freedom and personal liberty they are quick to slap a hate label on.
Pretty ingenious when you think about it but the problem is too many don't think and just accept whatever the SPLC throws at them as fact.

Stupid is as stupid does. He who ignores history is doomed to repeat it. Pick one.
Really, every time I see stuff like this I think of Orwell's 1984.

This is going to far.
But it just a group requesting it, doesn't mean they are going to get what they want.

You know the old saying you can want in one hand...and # in the other, see which one fills up faster.

Here's a little from their webpage:

We’re looking for Confederate statues or monuments; flags; government seals; patches on government uniforms; the names of parks, streets, schools, military bases or counties; school mascots; and other examples.

The SPLC is creating an interactive, online map of sites throughout the United States that honor the Confederacy or its leaders – people such as Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Let the vandalism begin! Were even going to give you a map so you can go right to them and deface them with spray paint

. In fact, there are still statues, buildings and even a state park honoring Nathan Bedford Forrest, the Confederate general who led a massacre of black Union soldiers and later led the Ku Klux Klan.

He forgot to add that there was a Congressional inquiry about Fort Pillow that found no fault with Gen. Forrest. He was the head of the original KKK which once it turned violent he renounced publicly and quit. It's pretty easy to smear historical figures especially since they're no longer alive to protect their reputations.

These are the kinds of distortions being used to get people riled up over these monuments.
I'm not saying they were perfect but certainly deserve a fair and comprehensive hearing if history is their true interest.

I think they're highly mistaken if they think that removing symbols is going to do ANYTHING toward "erasing hate".

I personally don't have a problem with removing signs of the Confederacy from state buildings, state seals or other government entities. I understand not wanting to give the impression of bias (which, like it or not, is what those symbols do) to any government symbols or property.

But that's not going to do anything to "erase hate". In fact, people are going to be a lot more pissed off and hateful if they feel their history is being systematically erased.

I don't think any effort to remove the Confederacy from the public will be successful, because there are too many people willing to fight for the freedom of expression, but that doesn't seem to be what the SPLC is trying to do.

He forgot to add that there was a Congressional inquiry about Fort Pillow that found no fault with Gen. Forrest.

Given the atmosphere in WashingtonDC, and the fact that Radical Republicans were firmly in control, had there been the slightest proof of involvement, they'd have hung him.

Erasing history, which these clowns are attempting to do, won't erase hatred. Quite the opposite. History should be painful. Horrible. Shameful. How else do we learn not to make the same mistakes? But history is also beautiful. Inspiring. To change it with deliberate intent to whitewash it, to make it as if it never happened is to set the stage for a repetition.

This is deeper than just wanting to get rid of Confederate names, or symbols. There's something darker at work here, something I can't put my finger on, but it reeks of totalitarianism or something eerily like it, where differing opinion is frowned upon, and will be actioned to stop it.

All I can say is many were claiming "it's only 1 flag were talking about taking down"
Remember those famous last words?
Just 1 flag, then it became that flag everywhere and just kept expanding from there.
I agree a lot more people will be angry thinking their history is under attack.
I fear our politicians will cave in to any threat regardless of how the public feels.
If my theory as to why this is being done is correct this is not going to simply go away for lack of support.

The only time in my life I feel like a Strom Thurmond or Jesse Helms would be helpful to have in Congress.

And so far there has only been one flag that has been 'banned', even though that really isn't what happened.

People never said that others will try and extend it, just that we shouldn't let these impractical wants affect the issue of the flag on state building at that time.

You know, not throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
