Exactly. That's why I'm a firm believer that only uniformed police should take action on the streets. The citizens have a right to know if they are dealing with an officer or just another citizen.

It's only a matter of time until a plain-clothes officer does not properly identify himself and pulls a gun on a law-abiding conceal carrying citizen and ends up being shot.

it's not too hard to understand that a lot could happened and the assailant could have thought his life was in danger.

He had the detective's gun. Whose life was in danger at that point?

The people taking the pictures and posting them seemed to know he was a cop...

After the fact, yes.

Did the man/men that did this know he was a cop at the time? Did he properly identify himself to them? Did he pull out his weapon without identifying himself and the men decided to protect themselves from who they thought was just a gun-carrying citizen?

There are a lot of questions here that need to be answered before we place blame on anyone.

Being held accountable does not mean that a person has done something wrong. These pics may show that the officer was doing his job. I think body cams and dash cams are not a bad thing. I think police departments need to show transparency now more than ever. I also think that if citizens see something inappropriate they should also document the incidence. We are all people, even police officers.

Yep. Lots of questions. Including when did the people posting the pictures know that he was a cop. Because them tagging the pics the way they did doesn't indicate when they knew it, only that they did.

These pictures show a cop laid out on the sidewalk after taking a beating, and show the cop on his knees with blood on his face and arms.

I fail to see how these pictures show him "doing his job" or anything other than what they actually show. Had the people posted a video of the traffic stop I might buy the way you're trying to spin your comment now.

Yea dash cams and body cams are great. Record the police. Record suspects.

Except that's not at all what appears to have happened with these pictures so I'm not sure why we're trying to put that spin on it.

I do not know this person and I'm not linking anyone I know. I'm guessing this guy is an officer. From what I understand the original posts were deleted.

All after the fact. It could be it was known before hand but we don't know all the details yet.

Lol. I feel like I'm being accused up putting a spin on it for and against the cops at the same time.

When you quoted me the first time I was responding to Necrobile that I did not care that the pics were post on facebook. I was not the one upset, that was a statement from the police department. If it came off any other way that was not intended.

You're right, I noticed that same thing actually and I apologize for the tack I took with my comment. I got who you were replying to and about what crossed up.

Again, apologies.

It has simply gotten to a point where the majority of people have lost respect for cops. I don't blame society for that.

It sucks for the cops who are doing their job right and are innoscent though.

The next time this cop or one of the others in his department have a confrontation, somebody will die. And I doubt it will be the cop. Fool me once.

The last two people who killed cops were both taken into custody alive. The two who beat this cop were taken into custody alive. Birmingham isn't a small town, which leads me to believe at least one uncooperative drunk got arrested last night being that it was Friday night, but we haven't heard anything about BPD killing anybody.

But yea, you're probably right.

I see this as a giant conspiracy.
And the racial problems have been
purposely made worse.

A conspiracy by the people who make money by race baiting
to increase the tension
to increase the problems
so that they can make more money
off of manipulating people into
doing stupid things.

How can the police even function now without problems?
It is completely impossible.

They are told to leave certain protected groups alone,
crime increases because the criminals know there
will be no repercussions because of their skin color.
The police are blamed because of the rise in crime.

The police do their job and people complain
they are too tough and racist if they detain
people of a certain color. It is a lose lose.

I really feel sorry for the police these days.
And for the people who are beset by criminals
who know nothing will happen to them and
the criminals are teflon because of the color of their skin.

Yes, it benefits the media, the black leadership, and the politicians
to increase the division and make matters worse, they gain
both monetarily and in power.

We are being manipulated into anger and eventually
will accept the federalization of police which
will be offered as a solution (which it will not be)
This will further increase the power of the politicians.

Look at it this way:
You are a fast food cashier, assistant manager.

You are told that if certain people steal from the store,
you are to turn a blind eye because they can't help themselves.

But you are also told that if someone finds out you turned
a blind eye to the stealing you will be fired.

You are also told that if someone steals, if they are a
certain color leave it alone because they need the money.

But if someone steals and you know
about it and someone else knows you know about it
you will go to jail for being complicit in the crime.

You are told that if certain people lose their temper
and start to get violent, you are to calm them down,
and then act to protect the customers.

But you are also told that if someone gets violent
and you harm the person in any way while trying to
protect others, you will be put in jail.

And you are also told that if customers are hurt
because you fail to act you will be fired.

You need the job to support your family,
the pay is the best fast food pay in the area,
you can not make more elsewhere and your
family is counting on them to support them
and you just can't quit and you can't afford
to be fired.

That is what the police deal with on a daily basis now.

I can't believe the level of delusion here. Teflon because they're black? You can't be serious.

Policing policies created the problem.

A conspiracy by the people who make money by race baiting

More like a conspiracy of white politicians profiting off laws disproportionately enforced on black people for city/town/county revenues... laws that would be overturned if enforced on white people but met with apathy because well "you know they are". Learn something about disenfranchisement and true race baiting. But you don't want to do that do you? It's easier to stay in the comfort zone isn't it?

IS it jus tme or can FACEBOOK give the poster of that pictures info to the cops? WHat a moron. Im sure they will consider this a atempted murder case and a felony theft of a officers weapon charge added on. The one taking th epicture is just as guilty as the rest for not trying to help.
