Pratt and GE are the two ADVENT/AETD competitors.

Hey zaph,

I understand the f35 currently has power issues in regards to acceleration and getting the bird up to speed again after a tight maneuver with the engine it's been using this whole time.

Would these new engines eliminate that issue too? If so, seems like the anti f35 brigade might have less to bitch about regarding her very soon

It started out the Big Three, but Rolls was eliminated with the ADVENT engineering contract. Both have had successful ADVENT campaigns, but GE has the better overall engine. They hit higher temps than they designed the engine for.

Next is the AETD demo, which interestingly does NOT require a full up engine, unlike ADVENT. They'll be building the combustion chamber using all the new technologies, but that's all that's required. GE will be building a separate exhaust section using several new technologies, including the NG exhaust that has caused them so many problems.
