You can call me crazy. What if the Ram II and Grizzly tanks were the beginning of Canadian owned creation of military tech that was stopped, possibly by time travel. US has a smaller land mass compare to Canada. No way Canadians did not have the resources to build their own tech. Today, Canada cannot even create its own military technology properly. It has been destroyed(Avro) or being prevented by possible Governments(maybe allies). They made a couple of vehicles in WW2. What if the Grizzly tank was suppose to be completed and sent overseas to fight WW2?

Canada today still relies on US companies to build military vehicles, and weapons along with some NATO nations like Germany for Leopard tanks. Canadians still relying on US companies to build their aircraft.

Defunct aircraft companies that built warplanes.

Canadian company that is now dead. Unknown to the population. Even though dead. The original company is GM which is a US company.

It would appear that they have progressed way beyond the sharp stick favored by other countries?

In "Operation Anchorage" they had giant robots and active armor.

We had our own defence contractors, as you mentioned like the Avro, but they have all been killed off or absorbed by the US. Any new developments out of universities or our stripped-back "Defence Research" are rapidly shifted to US defence contractors through DARPA. We had an instance with a fero-polymer stealth coating where this happened, so I know from direct experience it occurs. What Canada needs is its own paramilitary organization with its own R&D departments and labs. However, this will not happen until we break free from US control and political influence as well as attachment to the US banking system via the private IMF controlled corporation known as the bank of canada. For the last 50 years, our politicians heads have been so far up the POTUS' ass, you can't tell where one stops and the other begins.

It's really a shame, if we had our own defence industry I believe it would be used for defence, rather than as a stick to beat over the heads of countries that didn't want to comply with say the US' special form of terrorism, er I mean corporatocracy, er I mean democracy.

Cheers - Dave

They have no need of it. Their best buddies the US and the UK have got it covered.

Some countries don't chose to have a large defence industry, but Canada does have smaller niche players. Canada is a developed and diverse economy that could - if properly motivated - create a significant defence industry.

Canada is one of those states who could independently develop a nuclear capability, alongside most other Western nations. Canada has a decent civil nuclear industry, plus uranium!

The Canadian military is just to small to really make it viable unless it could sell in an already very competitive arms market. And of having the most powerful nation on earth as an ally so close the have joint air defense means you do not have many threats not, to mention the rest of NATO.

Avro was actually a British company with a subsidiary in Canada.

Not so. We USED to be quite innovating until other didn't like the competition and put it down. Not just the Arrow. What about the HMCS Bras d'Or?

Joking aside, you might be on target. Maybe why both US and UK cripple Canadian military projects. Canadians were ahead of everyone's time.

I just found this rare Canadian vehicle called "Avrocar."

Holy # no wonder the Governments stopped Avro company from producing anything.

Could you imagine Canadians having their own military tech unlike the rest of the world. They would definitely be technological more advanced than US today. I could just see "Star Wars" hover tanks with that project.
