Well this is an interesting turn of events, the Jesse Benton mentioned in the article is now head of Rand Pauls super PAC that has over 3 million dollars:

The FBI has charged three members of former Texas Rep. Ron Paul’s 2012 presidential campaign with conspiracy, including Jesse Benton, who now runs the pro-Rand Paul super-PAC America’s Liberty. According to the indictment, Benton, Paul’s former Campaign Manager John Tate, and former Deputy Campaign Manager Dimitrios Kesari arranged payments of more than $70,000 to former Iowa Sen. Kent Sorenson to switch his endorsement from former Rep. Michele Bachmann, who was also running for president at the time.

An email to Benton, who had served as a top adviser to Ron Paul during the 2012 campaign, has not been returned. “Federal campaign finance laws are intended to ensure the integrity and transparency of the federal election process,” Assistant Attorney General Leslie Caldwell said in a statement. “When political operatives make under-the-table payments to buy an elected official’s political support, it undermines public confidence in our entire political system.”

Boy, that sounds familiar...

Yet the unlimited political donations and dark money flooding in to support presidential candidates is astounding and left unchecked; however, that form of payment and support is just fine.

What a joke. If they used that logic across the board, Washington would probably be empty.

Are they going to indict Iowa Sen. Kent Sorenson on corruption charges for accepting the bribe? If we want to get at the root of such corruption, then it stands to reason that we should be prosecuting the politicians first and foremost.

The truly sad thing is, the only surprise here is that someone actually had to PAY someone to NOT endorse Bachmann.

I stand with Rand.......

That being said.......take anyone down whose guilty, do the investigation, and if the evidence finds them guilty, throw the book at them.....

Politicians and other Washington cronies will only change when they fear the same justice that were beholden to.

“That this indictment is now suddenly announced on the eve of the first Republican Presidential debate strongly supports our belief that this is a politically motivated prosecution designed to serve a political agenda, not to achieve justice,” Howard said in an email to The Hill.

This will be rich when the facts come out.

The FBI eh, Hmmm.

He was already charged and pled guilty.

Agreed that Rand got stuck by hiring family that had previously worked for his father.

FTA:

Benton is married to Rand Paul’s niece, and the GOP presidential candidate said late last year he’d be happy to bring Benton on to his campaign team

I have to question what Rand was thinking when he let this guy in to his camp. He knew this was going to happen and there were even rumors within circles he was a part of that Benton was a "plant" by other Republicans, such as McConnell, to discredit and disrupt Paul's campaign.

Why would he let this guy in when he knew for a fact this would happen?

With all the previous failures this PAC has backed, some people might wonder if they were all part of the opposing forces.

Things get fixed in add ways sometimes.
