Not at all, but there are people where that is there only option.

Doing that cut is throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Especially since it didn't even cover the abortions.

over the years they have lost over 900 seats.....it wasnt an instant thing

What year range would that be?

Ultimately they're damaging themselves by being so extreme. This is what happens when the radicals in any political party grab too much power from the sane and sensible politicians (and already there are far too few in that particular bunch), ultimately destroying it from the inside out.

I've been saying this for a long time, but I'll say it again... the Republican party is dead, it will not progress until it separates the Tea Party crazies from the real adults and becomes focused on fiscal conservatism rather than religious ideological preaching.

America is moving on fast, and the Republican party is bent over with its head up its own backside. As the old die off and the young become voters, the party is refusing to evolve with the society in which it exists, it will become extinct unless it changes.

Per usual the GOP will hold it's breath and stomp its feet til they get what they want. Here we go again...

This has become the calling card for the Republican party. It's become an annual thing. They just don't get the concept, you win some, you lose some and than fight another day. The way it's going, the two party system can no longer negotiate or work together.

since obama took office,,,,910 to be exact www.politifact.com...

The funding that PP gets will be given to other clinics and places for womens health....so i dont see a huge issue, not that im all for them being defunded, but if it found that these videos are accurate, someone has to be punished

Why, in light of these four videos that have surfaced (the rest of which are apparently barred from release), would you choose to "not" defund this organization?

Has no one from the senate seen any of these videos?

It seems that we (Amerikan taxpayers), are paying Planned Parenthood quite a bit of money?

Regardless of the "good" things that they do, the released vidoes themselves should be enough...

Boobie Jindal just stated that he was going to cut medicaid payments to PP. In Louisiana Medicaid didn't cover abortion anyway. So what he's done actually is cut off women and teenage girls from access to birth control and prenatal care. Potentially jeopardizing the health and well being of thousands of babies and mothers.

Idiot.

Jindal is a Christian extremist, he's the one who wanted to implement laws allowing Christians to abuse non-Christians, giving his fellow religious radicals an almost Nazi-like authority over all others in the state.

The man is a fascist.

No, the INVESTIGATION should be enough.
If you destroy an entire avenue of health care based entirely on a few videos you don't even know are actually credible are you then prepared to spend four times as much money supporting the hundreds of thousands of kids born to young people who can't afford to care for them?

No, you would be on here a year later screaming about your taxes going up to pay for all the kids who didn't need to be born to teenagers who didn't get the sexual health services you got rid of through your conservative pitchfork-wielding nonsense.

Of course this was going to fail and they knew it. They weren't interested in actually de-funding PP. They want to give their constituents the idea that they are trying to do real work and will use this as propaganda later to say that they "really tried".

Fools.

Because there was nothing wrong or illegal in them. There's little to no indication that anything illegal has been going on. Everything that the videos have shown are perfectly legal. The entire premise behind these videos is that Planned Parenthood has been selling fetal tissue at a profit. That's it, not that they perform abortions or that they dissect the fetuses to harvest specific tissues, that's all legal. The only thing that would be illegal would be if they were selling the tissue for a profit, which they're not doing.

So, if they're not breaking the law, then why should anyone defund the organization?

Can you list those?
Just curious.
It seems not everyone would be covered in the same way they are under PP, across the nation, with equal access.

When you have "Christian" radicals like Jindal on a crusade against anyone but his Christians, you're not going to get the same level of care for all across the country, are you?

Well the plan might have been to get the Democrats "on record".

Campaign debates and elections.

What's wrong with clinics and doctors and hospitals that are honest and above board?

Or the plan could have been to appease the nutbags while they stroke them for votes and campaign donations.

I like my theory better.

It makes more sense and is logical.

Some Democrats are already voicing distaste with the Iran deal.

If PP gets dinged again, Democrats will fold like they did with the ACORN debacle.

Not really, but that's ok. If the Democrats do fold it just shows that they are folding to the Right's agenda and should be forced out of office like the rest of em.

And , as I have said in previous posts, the states are the ones to take action. In a lot of states it is against state law ,and a felony , to do anything with an aborted fetus but a cremation.

this time, if they shut the gov't down, can they shut down the part of the IRS that collects the taxes out of our paychecks? I mean, we shouldn't have to pay while they aren't working! well, maybe I should rephrase that, since even when they are there they aren't doing much constructive. but if they are shut down, they shouldn't be collecting our money. shouldn't be getting paid, not even retroactively when they come back to work. and well, they should shut down all military action also, and have all the troops transported home before the shutdown is official. heck send the white house maids and cooks home, send the obama's home, send the secret service home also....park the battleships in our ports, land the jets on our bases, last one out, don't forget the turn off the lights!
we'd be better off without them I think!

then when they're finished with their nice vacation, they can come back, investigate planned parenthood, as well as the group that made these video and well, ANYONE who has broken any laws in this matter should be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law. and well, if planned parenthood is found to have acted within the law and it still offends them, well, they can change the danged laws so that no one can trade the poor little tikes' tissues.

but, no, they will just shut down the parts of the gov't that actually generates income, like the national parks or pays our military. they probably won't investigate anything since they already know that the whole thing was a sham, and they won't change one iota of the law that allows tissue to be harvested and transferred.
heck they might not do anything....
they just want to look like they are doing something...anything, except address the real problems that are facing this country...

I'm glad it failed, but seriously... filibusters should not be happening. Similarly, when something fails to pass we should not be adding it as a rider to every upcoming bill hoping to eventually get it through. Tactics like this are great examples of why we need legislation that limits the size of legislation put up for a vote, something like "A bill needs an additional 1% majority in order to succeed for every page in the bills length beyond 5, in a 12 point font".
