I was under the impression that anyone who disagreed with the left was a troll with mental issues and had a mental disease.

You know that topic really threw me for a loop, considering.

I don't care if they think we're nuts, just as long as they don't pass laws based on it.

The point is not that we think you're nuts, it's that you ARE nuts.

(Using "you" as a general term. Not meaning it personally)

Knowingly acting against logic and
even ones self-intetest smacks of
mental illness...and both sides of
the political soap opera do that
frequently.

That post proves that it is my opinion that a section of the right wing are nutbags.

So not believing the same ideology as you is an indication of insanity.

It has nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing on ideology. It's about the tendency of mentally compromised people being attracted to extreme right wing ideology.

It has nothing to do with ideology.

But it has everything to do with an ideology that you don't espouse.

WOW,

I'm offended that people so loosely throw around the term mental illness, many good people suffer from mental illness.

Conservatives and liberals.

It does, but the extreme right wing has nothing to do with conservatism. It's that extreme that is attractive to the unstable, and dare I say, unintelligent.

Real conservatives are generally just regular, decent people. The extreme right are nutbags that believe and proselytize some crazy stuff.

Birth certificates? Obama is turning the US in to a communist utopia? They trying to take our guns and push us in to FEMA camps......do I need to continue?

What extremists do the Left have?

Save the whales?

PETA?

Something about the right wing is attractive to nutters and MM posted some information on another thread, wish I could find, that explains a bit on why that is.

He's not saying you or I is crazy and insane.

He's saying that if we embrace an ideology he doesn't agree with, then we are calling ourselves insane.

The fact of the matter is that we (as a species) are becoming a global entity. We are becoming more and more interdependent upon each other in ways never before seen.

An uneducated farmer in China is now part of a supply chain that impacts a suburban house wife in Ohio.

The internet now allows the exchange if ideas and thoughts in ways never before possible in human history.

We can't put the cat back into the bag so to speak, we can't go back to living in tiny isolated villages with only a few families huddled together for safety. Whether we like it or not, the world is becoming more collective, more cohesive, and smaller every day.

I see a lot of conservatives preaching about "freedom" -- freedom to do what? What things do you want to do? What things are you afraid you won't be able to do? Humans arguably have more freedom now than at any other point in human history.

Who is to say a "one world government" won't base itself on the ideas and principles of Bill of Rights? Who's to say a new, unified Earth won't subscribe to valuing the individual? Why can't we look at things with a positive mindset? Why must everything be shrouded in paranoia and fear?

There is value to holding onto traditional cultural memes, but just as any organism grows we too need to reexamine and shed the old modes of operation that no longer suit us and help us make positive forward progress.

I see fear as being a number 1 roadblock to human potential. Fear is a powerful motivator of stagnation. Fear is a powerful motivator of violence. Fear is also a common denominator among the mentally ill.

We would have never colonized North America or landed on the Moon if we had let fear overrun our society. We would have never invented computers, the internet, or the airplane if we had let fear paralyze us.

The future is indeed going to be more collective, and we can either walk into the future with open, cautious eyes -- or we can go kicking and screaming with our eyes glued shut, allowing the fewest among us to decide the fate of humanity.

The problem is that, what people are calling extremist, are people who don't trust the Government to do what they consider morally right and feel that in fact the Government are deliberately and most importantly MALICIOUSLY doing what is wrong.

Wither that be Birth Certificates or wither that be, The Government targeting Black Communities for destruction.

Wither that Be FEMA camps or "The Patriarchy".

Wither that be The Communist Police State, or the Fascist Police State.

Remember, this is the same person who said that attending a KKK rally doesn't make one racist in an attempt to defend Margaret Sanger.

He will and can contort himself all over the place.
