The IRONY is absolute and consistent with this story.

Big shot internet "commentators" SALON is under assault by a group of their own employees who are forming a Union !!!

Salon talks big when unions are the topic of support.

But strangely, Salon seems to not be cooperating so fast with the Union that is now in their own front yard.

Hmmm.

Maybe these big shot outfits that preach something and practice a different act are not all what they would like you to think they are.

It must be the "Corporate" thing to do eh.

I bet they got some big time big shot lawyers too !!

Progressive News Giant Salon Refuses To Recognize Its Own Newly Formed Union

The popular progressive news outlet Salon Media Group is reportedly still refusing to recognize the union its employees voted for last month – despite being a huge advocate for unions.

The refusal came Thursday after editorial staffers rejected a counter-offer from management. According to sources for International Business Times, workers did not take the counter offer seriously. The editorial staff has cited other news outlets, like Gawker, in its decision to join the Writers Guild of America, East.

“As the surprising example set by the management and editorial staff of Gawker has made clear, the process of collective bargaining can commit management, editors and writers to work together in a new way,” editorial staffers wrote back on July 2. “That’s a critically important first step, and we are here to make it together.”

Wow, that is very hypocritical of them. Makes me lose respect for them, and that is sad.

Which of course goes to show that all progressives that are for unions would turn around and do the same thing right?

I never even heard of them.

I think what he is saying is that Media Matters is one of the largest promoters for Unionization in the U.S. if not one of the largest on the planet.
Maybe you have never heard of Salon (which is odd considering how big it is.) but if you would like to know why this is actually kind of a big deal I would suggest doing a wiki on Media Matters.

I have heard of Media Matters and agree wholeheartedly that this is massively hypocritical if they don't make something work.

Oh I am so sorry I haven't seen every link on this site!

You actually believe that ?

And no I don't believe it, I just believe that is the point of the thread.

I am actually kind of surprised.

I would have thought they would ...
1.) Let them unionize.
2.) Promote that fact.
3.) Give them really bad bargain deals, then hire scabs to replace them at a cheaper rate. when they went on strike.
4.) Not cover the story, of the strike.
5.) Continue on as if they are champions for the middle class and downtrodden.

so you admit that you start out the thread with an assumption about the purpose of the thread, having no other information, and not even knowing who the thread is about?

That doesnt seem very objective.......

Sounds actually hypocritical , since in your assumption your doing exactly what you ASSUME the thread is doing....

The thing is, their writers will just go somewhere else and spread the story.

Progressives are like socialists.

They're great at spending other peoples money.

Perhaps Salon is known for pro-union pieces because some of the very people trying to unionize may be the ones writing the material.

Yeah.

Their editorial staff has no control over what stories are published.

True true, but without Media Matters funding, they would just be "poor bloggers" talking crazy conspiracy theories... besides I would imagine that if any one journalist started to get traction they would just pay them off, and still be money ahead.

I mean where would they go to spread the story?
Fox news?

The rest of the Media spends quite a bit of their time telling folks how they should not believe the weatherman on Fox news, much less any story that would be critical of the great George Soros. LOL

Funny thing about truth and lies.

No matter how much money is spent trying to bury the truth with lies, like an awesome zombie, the truth will always emerge.

Hey it is my opinion.

I probably shouldn't have said it but I did.

And I did know what it was about.
Just because I haven't heard of the Salon doesn't mean I don't get what they are doing and how bad it looks.
