I wasn't sure where to post this, but this category seemed appropriate, as 911 is a direct link between first responders and the general public.

An Albuquerque Fire Department dispatcher has been reassigned after he allegedly refused to help a distraught woman asking for assistance on a 911 call as her friend was dying after being shot, fire officials said.

In audio released Tuesday, dispatcher Matthew Sanchez appears to get frustrated by a woman tending to Jaydon Chavez-Silver, a 17-year-old who was shot by a gunman who opened fire into a house where a party was being held at around 10 p.m. on June 26.

Chavez-Silver was pronounced dead at a hospital, and there have been no arrests, Albuquerque police said Tuesday. Sanchez asks several times whether the victim is breathing, and the caller says, "He's barely breathing. How many times do I have to f---ing tell you?" Sanchez is heard responding, "OK, you know what, ma'am? You can deal with this yourself, I'm not going to deal with this, OK?" The caller pleads, "No, my friend is dying! I …" and the line disconnects.

Wow! So someone is shot and dying and you terminate the phone call because the person calling is being "rude". What is worse is that this asshole still has a job, despite the recording and his obvious refusal to provide assistance. SMH

Why hasn't the 911 operator been charged in contribution to this death?

ABQ is a call center town, having a couple dozen call centers. what do you want to bet that this 911 dispatcher has an employee file with at least 10 of those call centers?

His rational for releasing the call is 100% sound...if you work for TMobile. WHen you work for 911, however, i feel his behavior is criminal.

All I can say is wow--the thought of being in serious peril and calling 911 only to have the dispatcher act like a d#*k is beyond me. I worked EMS for 5 years in the PNW, and if any of us heard of a dispatcher pulling this stunt, he would have been taken round back of dispatch and had a severe attitude adjustment. Shortly following being escorted off premises, head first.

Most EMS people are drawn to the field to help others--this jerk needs a career change, pronto.

I didn't realize you had to be polite when dealing with a GSW.

Alright.... alright....

Albuquerque is where I currently live. I have lived here for over 20 years.

Let me help paint a better picture of it for you.

The police here have extreme issues with their attitudes. But only because the people here are so dumb you could sell them a single pop tart for five bucks. You will see a pregnant lady getting a sobriety test in the middle of march.

They have the worst tail gaters you have ever seen. We sell hard liqour at gas stations. The general concensus of the working class here are fed up due to companies not willing to pay for 5 employees, but only two for the work of 6. And have high expectations for you. The only fun thing to do is go to a casino, or ride the same damn roller coaster at our only theme park. Sure we have miniature golf and go karts... but living in this town after a while you will feel like a slave.

Plus you have all of the homeless people absolutely overcrowding the city. There is not a single street corner that doesn't have a homeless guy trying to work it. It is damn near impossible to even make a living without a 20 year college degree. I only say that because the number of masters and doctorates here are leaving the state. The number of students attending school dropped a huge percentage for this coming semester. Every child here has a smart phone. However they do not have the mental capacity to remember anything without typing in a google search. We want a water park but can't have one. Homeless people are starting car fires around hotels. We have a new arsonist in town. All the mom and pop shops are slowly closing one by one.

And then.... you have the police coming back into the picture with the murder in the foothills, a drunk driver kills a motorist after 4 calls to the police reporting the suspect. To which they reply that they don't have the man power. Two convicts escape their transport vehicle, an officer actually got killed on a call. I actually spoke to the guy a month before he died. He was one of the better cops. You have a lot of theft happening way too often. Yeah. It is awesome.

The restrictions for joining apd are retarded. There is no academy. You can be an assistant vip cop but you are nothing more than another cell phone cop.

Yeah this town has a S.L.O.F. wrong with it. I'd like to compare it to other cities to see if Albuquerque truly is the worst place to live. Anyone want to compare?
