The bible teaches Controlled Capitalism which is a form of Democratic Socialism, or Social Capitalism.

The bible recognizes that everyone doesn't put in the same effort and that some should be rewarded above others.

17 The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor 1 Timothy 5

However, notice it says double honor. This does not excuse one man make making a million a year while another makes minimum wage.

For those who defend the extraordinary wealth of the Elite, are you sure you are following Christ? Or do you have EYES for being rich and famous that cause you to defend massive income and wealth inequality?

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Mathew 6

Isn't it time we listen to Christ and put caps on income and wealth disparity. If double honor is the perfect system shouldn't we be able to limit income inequality to no more than 20 times minimum wage. A maximum wage of $250,000 only reduces wages for the top 2% in the US and less then 1% globally.

There is a promise given to us by Christ if we would adopt the empathetic qualities of Social Capitalism, with controls on income disparity.

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Mathew 6

Do you enjoy following the Pagan philosophy that has lead to massive income disparity? Or would you prefer to stop chasing the material things of this world, and start empathizing with those who are less fortunate.

If we seek the Kingdom of God, by adopting the empathetic and unifying ideas of Social Capitalism, God has promised he himself will ensure that we have abundant provisions.

The only Religion worth following, and the religion everyone should agree to. Not today's Christianity, but James's religious philosophy.

27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Notice James says nothing about Rituals or Judging others, not even anything about Jesus. He only mentions helping those in need and keeping yourself from doing harm to others.

With no other requirements God accepts those who practice James's philosophy. Because it is the philosophy of the Holy Spirit.

Whatever you believe about Jesus the man of flesh can be forgiven, because his sacrifice was enough to cover ALL SIN except those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit.

And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man WILL BE FORGIVEN, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. Mathew 12:32

28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.” Mark 3

In his own words Jesus already offered forgiveness to those who would differ about his divinity.

Although Christians accept Christ as the Holy Spirit, and thus have a more spiritual connection to Christ, the only unforgivable sin is to blaspheme the Spirt of Love and Reason, the Holy Spirit.

If those who follow the other Religions do not blaspheme the Spirit of Love and Reason, they WILL BE FORGIVEN, even though they do not share your view on Jesus the man of flesh. Stop condemning them to hell, since Jesus Christ did not.

To the Christians, and anyone who feels guided by the devine voice of Love and Reason. And to the Atheist who believes in Morality and Logic.

Do you accept the philosophy of the Spirit of Brotherly Love and Reason, the Holy Spirt, or do you wish to continue to follow the Pagan Ideology of massive wealth inequality?

I think this is an inserting angle to take on the bible, but it raises something that hadn't occurred to me before.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Jesus have one of his disciples (Judas, quite fittingly), handle all the money for his group, even though pretty much all of Solomon's books of the bible make it a point to say don't do that, not just once, but again every couple of chapters, especially in Ecclesiastes?

I haven't drawn any conclusion from this it's just a wrinkle in the idea of Christian based economics I'm hoping somebody will have a profound thought about.

What? So this is "Social Capitalist"?
Sorry, Mr. Jesus, but that's not exactly sound fiscal advice...

I am no "Capitalist Christian" myself, but one of my best friends happens to be a Christian, and also very fiscal conservative, and I bet he would cringe about this alleged sentence by Jesus.

It possible to plan for tomorrow without worrying about it. Unless you can tell the future you can't even say if you will live through tomorrow, so why worry about what is uncertain.

I think you have misunderstood the concept.

True.

I might very well be wrong here...
Not my waters really. I admit I'm bad at religion.

Its just that...

31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?

sounds to me like the "party now - pay whenever" mantra.
Or rather "who-ever".

*sounds like Socialism to me. Is that where you were heading? Okay I'm leaving. Sorry again.

That is an interesting question about Judas, I don't really have an opinion on that. But your post inspired me to read Ecclesiastes again, I haven't made it past Deuteronomy for a while.

10 Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.

11 As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them?

12 The sleep of a laborer is sweet, whether they eat little or much, but as for the rich, their abundance permits them no sleep. Ecclesiastes 5

And a little eastern philosophy for everyone.

15 In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these:

the righteous perishing in their righteousness, and the wicked living long in their wickedness.

16 Do not be overrighteous, neither be overwise, why destroy yourself?

17 Do not be overwicked, and do not be a fool, why die before your time?

18 It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other.

Whoever fears God will avoid all extremes.
Ecclesiastes 7

It appears that Solomon was in favor of hard work and enjoying one's income. But cautioned against storing up much wealth and being greedy.

He is teaching the middle way, a life without extremes. A teaching I readily agree with.

Yes, socialism with a twist of motivational capitalism. Just not the extreme capitalism we see today. Capitalism is good, but it would be better if we controlled the greed of those at the top, in my opinion.

I am only advocating controlling the wealth of the top 1% of humanity. Something that most of us will never achieve anyway.

What's to stop these people from leaving the country to make more money elsewhere?

Guess we have to restrict their travel options too.

Who cares? I will escort them to the airport and wish them good riddance.

Then a small business owner will take their place, because the demand is still there.

Why are people afraid of the Elitist leaving the country? How do the Elitist have people so brainwashed that anyone thinks that we need them.

I want them to leave.

Jesus himself rebuked Judas.

Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.

7 “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you,[c] but you will not always have me.”
John 12:1-8

Here we have the account of Mary washing Jesus' feet with perfume and her own hair.

And here we also have Judas getting upset at her for using that perfume in such a way.

This is also where Jesus says that the poor will always be with us, but it's interesting to note that he does so in rebuke of Judas who sounds so much like so many of today's socialists. And as the account describes and notes - Judas is NOT moved by any real compassion by the poor but by his own greed. The Gospel even calls him a thief.

In the end, we also see that the natural outgrowth of Judas is that he even sold out Christ, Himself, sold out God in a sense, for his 30 pieces of silver.

In the end, we can argue about economic systems all day, but what matters to Him is what is most important in your heart and how you handle that. Clearly, for all he followed Christ as a disciple, it seems Judas cared more for money in the end. The poorest person in the world is not above lusting after money and being consumed by greed simply because he or she has none. And the wealthy can be as generous with their money as the poorest, but you may never know it because they don't advertise it.

Simply having wealth is no indicator of a person's inward heart and condition.

Evangelical conservative Christians have probably never read the new testament, they certainly pay no attention to "DO not judge others" and "turn the other cheek" , so reading about Jesus' economics? Pretty sure that would be no.

Oh yeah because Democrats just hate Christians. If you stop a group from forcing their religious views on other people doesn't mean they hate that group that just means they want to follow the laws of the land.

I agree, many people have become wealthy simply by using the system legally.

I know many millionaires, as I used to consult them, who simply used the system to their advantage. Without violating the laws.

The system is broken and some have found a way to wealth who are also kind and loving individuals.

Of course you do.

Thank you for revealing that jealousy inside you.

But the elite wouldn't be so elite if they didn't have a government they could buy.

If they didn't havea a billion dollars, that they got from exploiting the work force, they couldn't buy the government.

I am not Jealous. I have no desire, NONE, to be a billionaire. I have no desire to exploit society.

Not everyone that is against income inequality is jealous of those who have wealth, because many of us don't care about money or material goods.

After all this thread is about being Like Christ. Not about becoming rich and famous.
