That's why we should have a national referendum-initiative-recall movement.

You and people who feel as you do, should be able to make your voices heard ALONG SIDE our elected "Representatives." Just as Windword, Grimpachi and I (and those who feel as we do) should.

I don't believe that any "side" of the political spectrum would disagree that by and large our national (and state, and local) "representatives" in our "representative republican democracy (or democratic republic)" are actually serving OUR interests.

Why not establish a clear, secure way for each American citizen to vote (one time) on these issues?

At least then, perhaps we'd stop quibbling with each side thinking they are "in the right and in the majority."

Totally agree with that !

It use to be our votes that did that, but no one in washington represents our interests anymore on either side of the political spectrum

Fast-tracking is something Paul knows all about....shady, underhanded shortcuts are the name of his game...He couldn't pass a board of ophthalmologist exam, so he created his own certification. Yup, this guy is totally legit...

Dr. Paul: Not board-certified, but self-certified

According to an amusing story in today’s Louisville Courier-Journal, the Kentucky Republican Senate candidate bills himself as a “board-certified” physician even though he is not actually certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology — the only recognized body that certifies doctors in his specialty.

Paul’s only certification was provided instead by something called the National Board of Ophthalmology, which is very convenient because he operates that organization himself.

LOL...you just can't make this stuff up! Comedic GOLD!!!

You cannot compare the atrocities that PP has been accused of to a purported HIV outbreak. Oh wait, you just did.

What atrocities would those be? Are you referring to abortion in general, the donation of aborted fetuses and their remnants, or the storage and transfer, for a fee, of those fetuses and their remnants?

yeah a simple google search will tell you that he passed everything he needed.........

he just didnt like the re-certification issues , that others were exempt from.......

So he tried to start his own......

Your statement was that he failed it , and was never certified........which is absolutely false, because if that was the case he would be sued and shut down by the gov for operating without a license......

Common sense>salon idiocy

I swear its never ending, people need to be spoon fed........

Here’s how it works: To practice medicine legally requires a license issued by the state. Eligibility for licensure is granted after graduating medical school and after passing a series of difficult standardized exams prepared by the National Board of Medical Examiners. Once completed, licensure is forever (assuming a person behaves and isn’t a total disaster). Rand is a licensed physician.

It gets even more complicated, but hang in there; Rand is hoping the distinctions are just too subtle for anyone to really care about. In the 1980s, American medicine decided that it should police itself. A little. So the Grand Old Men of the various fields decided that already certified specialists should recertify once a decade. Rand initially did the right thing and became certified; but when his 10 years were up, he decided he’d had enough and chose not to recertify. Rather, he organized his own certifying program for ophthalmology based right there in his hometown of Bowling Green.

That is all I am going to say except...shut them down.

From what I understand, to be considered "board certified" you have to be certified by one of three organizations.

Those are the ABPS, AMBS and the AOABOS.

If he was not certified by one of those three, he is not board certified.

I'm no expert by any means, but that is what I understand.

Youre very obviously wrong, which is no surprise when it comes to Salon.com

Not only that it has nothing to do with the thread, so congrats on at least derailing......

The accusation was that he failed and could not pass the test or the certification....he not only passed but had been certified by that organization

I dispelled the accusation with facts.........
