More people than the OP gives credit to know the Deep Web & Dark Net exist. It's kind of a modern infatuation -- most people not already using TOR even wonder about what lies below/deeper. Mariana's Web, for example, most people assume it to be a myth akin to the Holy Grail of inaccessible networks. The mythology surrounding it is what it is, but we do wonder about it. As in, are the rumors true, what actually uses that, etc

OP, give ATS more credit. There have been countless threads about the Deep Web/Dark Net already. Here's just a handful of past threads:

Travels Through The Deepweb
The Secret Internet Uncovered
Deep Web, Secret Web, Second Web
What is the Deep Web
The Deep Web and conspiracy theories
Tor (anonymity network)
Dark web warning
The Deep/Dark Web

Seriously, the odds of posters on ATS not having heard of it by now are a little low.

Sorry bud, can't help ya there. I downloaded TOR a long time ago to try and couldn't figure it out. I've never set foot in the Deep Web or Dark Net, so computer security protocols for it aren't something I'm able to give advice on.

TOR was developed by USN and is substantially funded by the US government.

Keep that in mind.

The idea of TOR like sites was developed by USN , not the original Tor

ooooooo! some type of sensoring on ATS?

Ha.

Never really interested too much in that stuff since I figure download times would be a good deal slower. Maybe not.
