I have often wondered why species have gone from asexual to sexual creatures too. I have not really done a lot of research into it, but I do have an
The idea of evolution is that species will adapt and change so they can better survive and procreate, thus furthering the species' chances of
survival. There might have been a time long ago where they realized sticking together and having more of a herd mentality brought greater chances of
success. In one way or another having multiple (two) creatures of the species was now necessary to reproduce.
This doesn't really answer HOW they went from asexual to sexual, but it at least shows a benefit to having two parents instead of one.
Also, sex is awesome.
Another point I wanted to make was that Darwin's Theory never mentions that evolution makes species better. He simply stated that they are constantly
changing to better adapt to their environment. This means that sexual does not necessarily mean it was an improvement over asexual.
