Not even close to being as powerful/deadly as nukes.
AI goes so far beyond the puny, infinitessimally small destructive power of the nuke. With nukes we can merely threaten a single planet. AI, on the other hand, threatens life across the universe.
So at the end of the day, we could be creating a violent super intelligent sociopath or a benevolent machine that will protect humanity.
