I don't even know where to start with this... shaking my head or laughing my ass off.

An all-Republican county commission in Missouri voted unanimously Monday to observe a full calendar year of “mourning” after the Supreme Court’s gay marriage decision, a protest that will include lowering flags to mark the somber occasion.

Flags at the Dent County Courthouse and Judicial Building will now fly at “below half-staff” on the 26th day of every month from July 2015 until July 2016, the Salem News reported, to mark the day SCOTUS handed down the ruling that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.

The rest of the country should all lower their flags mourning the loss of grey matter among this group of right wing Neanderthals.

They could succeed, but I doubt they would survive on their own and Canada won't take them lol.

The sane people of the country should lower theirs the other days of the year in morning for the loss of reputation in the rest of the country. it's pretty danged sick when the extension of rights being given to a group of people (doesn't matter to me weather you agree with the decision or not) is worthy of more morning than the assassination of a president! wtf!!!

Isn't this a form of protest?

That's what I was just wondering.

Is this freedom of speech, or is this using their position as commissioners to push their beliefs on to others by creating a decree to fly the flags below half-staff?

Is a child crying because they have to go to bed a "form of protest"...

Sure.

But it's still bed time.

It may be ignorant, futile, childish, reprehensible, (lost my thesaurus). . . . . . .

But it is just a protest.

Plenty of protests I thought were stupid, but I'd never deny them their right to protest. Not saying you would, but others might.

There certainly appears to be a double standard working in the US.

I was really hoping this was an Onion headline but alas, it isn't. Missouri County is acting a bit like a melodramatic teenager.

We fly flags at half staff when important people and our troops are killed.

Lowering the flag for gay marriage insults those people and the troops that have died.

Let them throw their immature temper tantrum...

Oh, they absolutely have the right to protest. Just as much as I have the right to call the idiots for doing so.

They are elected officials. I assume that come election time, the voters would decide if their actions were appropriate.

I think it's just the country buildings, people are free to fly their flags however they wish... at least I would hope so!

still a little overdramatic for my tastes though.
