I had a very, very long post written, but I decided against it.

EDIT: I lied. It ended up being long.

So I'll keep it short.

Republican. Democrat. Socialist. Libertarian. Nazi. Label. Label. Label. Label. Label.

(I may have missed your label)

Whatever label you choose to follow under - I hope it doesn't fully represent you. You are a beautiful and individual human being with sentient and sapient life, with feelings, emotions, dreams - and you are full of life. Embrace it.

Now politicians on the other hand...

(Hold your applause)

But hold on, notice something? I think almost EVERYONE would agree, chuckle, or get a good sentiment out of that statement?

But why?

Is it this label?

Is that label?

Oh it's definitely that label.

That label is pretty bad too.

This is the charade of politics that too many grown, intelligent, charismatic, and downright awesome adults have in our country.

Yet every single team our Orwellian rigged election system takes place, these same intelligent, compassionate, and hard-working people fall for the same hook, line, and sinker that has been bleeding them for centuries.

You can't blame them though. We work long days. We don't sleep enough. Our children keep us so busy, we don't even have time for ourselves.

How many excuses must be made in order to compensate for our collective and willful ignorance and apathy on these matters, while our collective 'intelligence' and 'attention' to certain things (very exact stats of professional athletes, movies and the actors/actresses in them) steamrolls forward with no disdain as it is deemed normal?

I fear the latter will soon, if not already, gobble the former and the noose around our neck will be too tight for anything but inevitable submission, if it is not already.

(How many trillions is our national debt at again)

So I sit and wonder. Why has it only gotten worse? What happened to all the fancy speeches, drawn-out monologues, and extravagant parades of meanlingless cheerleading rhetoric of "USA! USA!," that engripped so many Americans? What happened to all the hollow, and straight up fake promises? Why do people seem to not even care about politics aside from for a month or two every four years, or whenever the television tells them to be?

Why can't people see what is right in front of their face?

We vote for label.
Label makes it worse.
So we vote for label.
Label makes it worse.

Take a look at our country. How are we doing? Empirically - how do YOU feel about it?

So why do we keep on doing it? Playing the same Wheel of Fortune with the same prizes with same results that we have ALWAYS had. It does not take a college degree or a super laptop to see what bills and stances our (s)elected officials read (or don't read), what is in them, what they do, how they are enacted, etc.

Most people would never take the time for such trivial matters - they may miss The Voice - oh no. I understand the hectics of life. We work all the time. We don't sleep enough. Our children take up so much of our time, we don't even time for ourselves.

I understand. But it's time to put an end to the excuse of willful ignorance. Just say it, tell people you don't care, that you don't care to care. That's your right - your freedom, the reality of the naive.

A lot of us just went to give you a bone or two to chew on. Stuff that we, at one point, chewed on ourself. When someone says something that is simply incorrect - we just want to throw you a few links to some things we've found or read that made us go, "Huh, I did not know that." Knowledge never hurt, right? Its not about "you're wrong and this is right so stop being wrong," this is the rhetoric that I find so commonly amusing in the Republican/Democrat paradigm. It's about the fact that we may not know as much as we think we know - and that it is completely okay, but we should always strive to educate ourselves and our fellow countrymen and women about our history, present, and future.

It should be a worthy, civil, respectful discussion. What do we have today - hateful shocking comments and remarks, rash over-generalizations of potential tens of millions of people, and an unspoken content of who can speak ill of the other party in the most visceral and clever display of wit.

When discussing politics - we hardly even discuss politics. Stupid comparison I know, but it's more of poli-piss: who can piss the furthest, for no reason, because I know more than you and I'm better than you.

Trying to refrain my own rash generalizations, it seems as if though collectively we fall into this and fall deeper and deeper each round we go.

It's as if actual politics does not matter - as long as the politican and his words are something both agreed with, he gains an enormous crowd that is eager with anticipation - but anticipation for what? It seems as if though these same people collectively undergo some sort of amnesia every rigged election year, and the repeat the same mass hysteria with the same aspirations and anticipations.

Brainwashing? Maybe, but it seems to go so, so, so, SO much deeper than that. To elaborate on a very short note - George H.W. Bush and George H. Bush both started wars - and I'll leave that at that - Prescott Bush assisted in funding the Nazi party.

Yet we have another Bush that people are... excited about?

And before I got slammed into the "Obama's fault" train, he continued some of Bush's WORST POLICIES that affected the Unitrd States as a nation and we as human beings in detremential ways.

How many other policies have continued to be upheld regardless of the label that they attach to themselves? Why don't people converse about it - while there are multiple stadiums filled with people cheering on Dashaun Jackson?

Why can't we just stop pissing on each other's feet for one moment to realize we ALL must stand and live in each other's piss?

Why can't we stop just blaming a different party, or one person who may or may not represent or respect what party it is their affiliated with?

Why can't we stop, for four years, to collectively analyze the traitorous and cowardess (I don't know if that's a word) that is symbolized by our own government, and to put a pin to the era of money-politics and fanilial relations (dynasty)?

Why can't we stop boasting about things that have been infiltrated by an Orwellian nightmare, and turned inside out to be the exact opposite of what they're claimed to be?

Why can't we stop parading, applauding, and upholding a rogue government and (again, not trying to make rash generalizations), military and police form that tremble the entire globe because of our corporate imperialism?

Why can't we see that, regardless of affiliation of party or label, the vast majority of candidates we hear and see about, do not have the common Americans interests in mind?

Why do we continue the vote amongst the same parameters that have led us exactly to where we are today?

Why can't we, for once - take a new approach. Third party. Fourth label. Whatever it's called. If it fails? If it sucks?

Has it not already failed? America - does our political system not already "suck?"

Why can't we wake up?

They invented the word politics (Its "politics") to cover for what they are really doing:

Lying, cheating and stealing.

Now, let your eyes glass over, your mind numb and go earn something.

To answer your question about the word that you used, 'cowardess', the word you want is cowardice, but your point is taken.

People don't want to really wake up because if they do, they'll have to actually take responsibility for themselves and for those dependent on them.

It's so much simpler to be ignorant.

The only reason I registered as democrat, is because in NY you must register for a party to vote in the primaries. It is a closed primary state.

I lean liberal and democrat but there are conservative issues I support as well. I state it that way to give an overview, but it does not describe me completely. None of them. I think most people here know we are 'being played'. But removing something I describe myself by will not get me out of a game I didn't create nor had any choice in playing.

So in a nutshell you are saying we are brainwashed idiots and you are not?

It took a lot of words to make a simple statement.

Are you sure you are not a politician?

Why can't we wake up?

We can...

But most choose not to.

"The truth that makes men free is for the most part the truth which men prefer not to hear." ~ Herbert Agar

• People who are pretending to be asleep will resist being awakened because they have something to lose by ending the charade.

• People who pretend to be asleep can often lose track of what is real and what is pretend and thus cannot respond normally to situations.

• People will act as if nothing is happening when they don’t want to face the reality of the situation by pretending to be unaware or unsure despite being presented with the evidence.

You Can’t Wake A Person Who Is Pretending To Be Asleep

The truth is never popular...

Ironic but true.

"The Truth is heavy, therefore few care to carry it" ~ Winston Churchill

Let's start with a revolutionary idea and see where that goes...

Thou shalt not kill.
Or how about "Murder is against the law?" However, in most places, you can kill people who attack you with intent to kill or do great harm, invade your home, etc. So, the 10 commandment statement doesn't cut it.

Because in a 'democracy' there can only be two.

The majority. The minority.

Our elections, and legislative system is predicated on the premise.

The 'new' approach is actually an old approach to return to what this country was originally meant to be.

A republic.

Either you just don't like me or my opinions, or you just have a snarky nature (I haven't figured out which, yet). But if you wish to discuss topics with me, do so without tossing baseless assumptions about me as a person into it. I only bring it up because in many threads where you and I cross paths, you make rude remarks towards me without cause.

I made replies to the thread based on the OP's point, and MY opinion on the situation that he/she addressed; if you don't agree with them, that's on you.

As far as people being asleep to what I feel is going on in our country, yes, I feel a great many of them are and I believe that is due to their own refusal (be it subconscious, or not) to take responsibility for their choices in life.

Yeah , its called self-defense . Not murder. No religious text I have read so far speaks out against it. They all speak out against murder , though.

Not quite true, if Bernie Sanders was going to run as Independent, I would have changed my affiliation to Independent in order to vote in the primaries, a requirement in my state. Since he is running as a democrat, I didn;t change it.

Now, there are not only 2. In the race for president, it is normally 'between' 2 parties, but you will see candidates running under different parties. On the national scale, this often doesn't work. There are very few people in the senate or congress that don't fall under the 2. There have been 14 presidents that were neither.

In local elections, I see where I live, often the candidate that runs under the party "Working Families' wins.

There's a poo to butterly ratio that the ruling class knows all too well. As superior predators to the lower classes, they gauge this perfect ratio since youth.

Now, this poo to butterfly ratio must be tweaked in times of depression and recession, and in times of prosperity and peace. They done crunched the numbers, used the slaves to game the theory for all of it's exceptions.

What results is what is, enough people to keep the tech advancing, raise standards of livings the whole world over, and keep much more for the few crackin the whip.

How do you see this? Is this a win-lose, or a win-win scenario? Who is truly the loser, and are you sure you're thinking this through?

It seems those who most want to put in their own supposed better ideals and play dictator under the guise of hero are bothering to make much fuss. Everyone else unconsciously knows their rank, and follows line.

So which truth is it? I'm pretty sure many are at play, and nobody is aware of them all at once.

I was only replying to the post. Often when people point out that a great many people are 'asleep' they believe themselves to be 'awake'. If you think I don;t like you or I am being snarky, you are imagining it.

I replied to a short post that said "how about thou shall not kill" . That is definitely a bible quote. It doesn't say murder, it says kill. It didn't comprise the whole of any text. Just a quote from the 10 commandments.

As this thread progresses....

It will answer your question. Watch the sides form, the bickering and finger pointing start, watch the partisan BS take over,
The intransigence thought forms manifest, and those that feel victimized will start playing the crybaby card.

Looks like it's started already....

People cant wake from a dream because they think it's the right thing to do and they are hard wired to think that way.

No, not at all. I don't remember saying anywhere that everyone is a brainwashed nut and I am not.

I didn't mean to insinuate it either.

If anything I meant to say that we are collectively brainwashed nuts, we know we are brainwashed nuts, and most people like being a brainwashed nut.

Why? (I am also included in being a brainwashed nut, I am asking a question to see the different responses/views that people have)

I also feel like being a brainwashed nut, to an extent - is a choice, and it's one I choose not to make.

Again, why? We do some of us choose not to and others, especially in others that don't and know they don't? (and seem to pride themselves on it) - not that it's wrong (aside from personal opinions), but because CURIOISITY.

I am not trying to play any superiority complex here, I don't care about ego or pride
