I feel like I'm having an evolution argument though. I try to present reasoned arguments and instead just get fallacies and emotional rhetoric in return. Like Beezer seems to believe that if he can trick someone into showing SOME kind of support for taking the flag down, that somehow validates his slippery slope fallacy that we secretly want to ban the flag altogether.

Give them to the people that care about their heritage if they're going to piss and moan, privatize all Confederate memorials and cemeteries. Then it won't be any of the rest of ours business. Until then, all people have a say over what is done with our tax dollars and in our names.

First it was the flag in the Civil War Memorial.
Now it's flags at Civil War cemetaries.

No.

I think that people in states and communities should be able to fly whatever flag they choose at their public places as long as the people agree on it. Except religious symbols because that's an entire different issue.

You see, I don't give a damn about symbolism. I think it's for the weak minded. Fly the confederate flag if you wish. I don;t care. But don't bitch and complain when some think your state or community if full of racist bigots.

Freedom and personal responsibility. It's awesome!

The thing is, you don't have to utter racist names or make racist comments to be racist.

All you have to do is give preference over one "race" (which doesn't really scientifically exist anyway...).

The people that claim they're not racists are usually somehow discriminatory in one form or another in ways they don't realize.
