This has always bugged me! Its as if we allowed someone who doesn't understand compass directions to "name" our regions - based on compass directions! Would we have played along if FL, GA, AL, etc were called "Northwestern States?" I'm going to start telling people i live in the Mid-East. Sounds more interesting.

As for the storms (obviously long gone by the time i finally chimed in) i think the skies here aren't used to being over 76° - and definitely not used to not-raining. A couple 90+'s and all hell breaks loose. I actually felt like i was dodging lightning strikes during short drives both Friday & Sat.
