I lived in on an island Spain for 14 years, reason I left was because of a
run in with the national police caused by me telling them that
I was tired of getting the run around ( I was applying for residential status which
gives you a 50% discount if you are traveling from an island to the mainland )
I am european and had been living and working on the island for 14 years, paying taxes, raising
a Family, never bothered trying to get residence status because I knew they would give me the run around
and I do not have much patience with bureaucrats treating me like I am a refugee, long story short I got a little loud and let them know that I was not happy, just that, no swearing just stating the facts, well I got mobbed
by 5 police who threw me to the ground kicked me and punched me in the head although all I was doing
was leaving the place, I got charged with aggression against Authority, thrown in jail for several hours etc..
My consulate told me there was nothing they could do other then recommend a couple of lawyers...
Anyhow I left Spain soon after naer to return, although I had build up a pretty nice life there, after that incident I realized that to them I would always be a foreigner and that I would have less rights then one of them, also opened up my eyes concerning the police and the potential of a police state, up to then I had never had reason to complain...

A leftists dream.

This is the left in action.

This quote from the men who run Spain's government.
"We're speaking the same language as the people. We know what they feel and we're making the same analysis they are," said Juan Carlos Monedero, 51, a Podemos founder and, like Iglesias, a professor of political science."
www.reuters.com...
(This article explains how the leftist's came to power that now run Spain)

We now see what the left in action is really like don't we?

Really totalitarian at heart and when in power, totalitarian in action.

The left's motto appears to be:
You will only say things we approve of.
You will only think things we approve of.
If you don't, we will punish you.
Because we speak the people's language,
and the peoples language is what we tell them it will be.

Hmmmmm, sounds eerily like the current rhetoric of the left in the US doesn't it?

Hmmmmm, looks eerily like Hillary physically rounding up and roping off journalists to keep them away from her.

You mean the right. The ruling party is from the right and the article you posted is about the opposition party from the left losing power.

Erm, you do realise that the PP (Partido Popular) headed by Mariano Rajoy is a right wing party, right?

Are you sure that Party hasn't been infiltrated years ago?

They could be controlled opposition.

As the windows line up, and all the people reach equal
bankruptcy, the journey to dependency and bondage will be
complete. Are we all in that house of smoke and mirrors just
reflections of each other? Glad you saw me Charlie.

How sadly ironic indeed it is-- that the many ignorant of us
were so adamant on financing our own extermination. Just
glad I halfway woke up before it was all over.

France, Italy, maybe the whole EU crumbling away may be the
beginning of the real dystopia. You know, these guys have a
way of snatching tyranny from the jaws of 'defeat'. Foolproof

Spain has a larger population which makes a bigger impact. Australia currently holds as much debt as Greece.

Personally, if Greece pulls the lever on the Euro in a Grexit, then pulls some serious policy changes needed to stop the spiral of debt; pending Greeces government enters a new level of accountability so money is not corrupted, Greece will be better off. The Euro doesn't suit the Greek tourism model.

Europe is Chinas biggest customer. Australia relies on China. Like a pack of cards Id say. Australia already has a bucket of government debt to its children. The Australian Labor party loves feeding its biggest donor, the banks with more debt. Another financial catastrophe will cripple Australia.

Are you BOB ready?

Personally I think the Greeks should agree to an 'in house' austerity only if government constructs a new framework of transparency at all levels. Pure accounting to rid corruption.

If Greece goes the radical in house austerity with a move back to the Drachma, watch the money men come running. They would eat their own young. They cant help themselves in the pursuit of growth.

Spains government is insane. All this will do is radicalize the oposition. Similar tactics almost made ETA a viable political force in the 70s. Their enemies should thank them.

Spaniards only chill or boil over. All that hot passionate blood is about to spill. I cant imagine how the police are going to beat up everyone. This isnt the US. Spain is still openly resentful of police actions during the civil war and the years after. The police not in riot gear and pumped full of steroids are going to get the ever living crap beaten out of them if clubs start to fly.

Dumb. Europe right now is in lack of good minds and good hearts. Evil is not evil, its freaking retarded and absurdly counter productive. Greed leads to hunger.
Spite leads to humiliation. Arrogance leads to desolation.

Pride is a poison.

Sounds like Spain is a little worried they are the next Greece.........This is what progressives do when backed into a corner. Look into the past it will show you the future............

I wish progressive socialist liberals would finally see the path they lay is to outright tyranny.

If we had a president who abhorred police states, he would have vehemently spoken out against Spain doing this, and even implemented immediate sanctions against Spain for doing this. Has he done that? If not, he isn't afraid to let the world know he supports tyranny, but we already know he does.

Don't forget what happened with Honduras...

Nobody is going to do anything about that law this early. It already has a challenge in the courts and will be a big part of the election in December when the Leftist (who will remove the law) try and retake power from Right who created this law. For any outside leader to step into this right now would lead them be accused of trying to subvert the democratic process of Spain. In other words the people of Spain have the power to end this law if that is what they so wish. And outside interference could prove disastrous.

Oh!

MASSIVE FACEPALM

The PP is a CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATIC AND CONSERVATIVE party.
It's center RIGHT, not Left.

If only someone had done their research before going on an anti-Liberal rant, and if only those who starred your comment were capable of checking Google before doing so.

It's this kind of outright BS on ATS that really damages the credibility of many here.

So what do you say now, are you still so critical of this now you know that it's your right wing buddies doing the gagging? Or is it suddenly not such a bad idea when it's being used to attack the freedoms of those pesky liberals?

Yet again we have a situation where people seek to twist events and apportion blame to suit their preconceived ideas and opinions.

The FACT that the ruling PP are right wing conservatives is irrelevant to them. Because the Spanish government is trying to implement repressive laws upon the Spanish people they must, by default, be leftist for the simple reason its those damn, pinko, liberal commie progressives who are responsible for all of the world's ills.

We even have the insinuation that this right wing party has been 'infiltrated' despite there being a complete lack of evidence or even a single suggestion that this is the case.
Because its repressive it must therefore be leftist - complete and utter bollocks.

It is just that refusal to consider an opinion or thought that contradicts one's predetermined viewpoint that has resulted in me commenting less and less over recent weeks here on ATS.

I was totally unaware of this facts. There's a big silence going on in my country about this. And we are neighbors !

I made search in Euronews about whats happening and I got some intriguing and scary finds, some examples:

I will start with the definition of terrorism adopted in the Penal Code reform that could qualify as a terrorist almost anyone for…

- criticising the government, security forces or the Spanish monarchy;

- regular consultation of web pages with “terrorist content”;

- leaking documents;

- media coverage of protests or the broadcasting or publishing of messages that could “encourage others” to break the law. Social networks are specifically mentioned; originally this was aimed at fighting jihadist propaganda, but activists warn this could lead to punishment for legitimate political usage of the Internet.

Euronews

Now about the sanctions, without a trial, some examples:
Up to 30,000,00EURO fines for…

-disrupting public order during sports, political, cultural, religious or other events;

-unauthorised use of photos or the personal data of police officers;

-refusing to disperse a demonstration;

“Light offences” are punishable by fines of 600 euros for a wide range of actions, such as showing a “lack of respect for security forces”, occupying public or private spaces or climbing on buildings or monuments.

etc, etc

This a scandal to freedom of expression, and people aren't ware, because of insufficient MSM coverage, excessive Football, Soap Operas, and in this very case Greece economics, Vacations time ...

Just one more thing, the translation of the Euronews article to Portuguese doesn't say the same things (is less informative) than the English one. I wonder Why??

Notice how they've all gone suddenly silent when it's pointed out that it's "their team" doing this to the Spanish people? Suddenly they've all scurried off back into the holes they crawled out of, feeling embarrassed no doubt. Funny how they're all so eager to condemn their own political ideology when they think it's the opposition, but suddenly they have no opinion when it's pointed out that these are ideals associated to their own political opinions

I think we should keep this going, maybe start discussing what else this RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN party is doing to fu** their nation over a barrel, and how that could be coming to your country if the same RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN FASCISTS get their way

I wonder how many here might now be reconsidering their political allegiances? After all the condemnation by those too lazy to investigate, are they now willing to accept that it's their own political ideology they were ranting against?
