Nobody got the "Alice's Restaurant" reference? Nobody?

Mongo sad.

Arlo Guthrie, right?

I couldn't place it, but yeah.

My roommate in college (c. 1986) actually had that ALBUM. Even by that time actual "records" were kinda rare. He introduced me to a LOT of music I wouldn't have otherwise known.

We listened to it and others while ... sitting around in the evenings minding our own business not engaging in any vices either liquid or gaseous ...

Yeah. Good times. He died a couple of years ago ... I still miss him.

I'm pretty sure it's not just about re-branding. Have you tried not being Christian in the Bible Belt? Just for one example.

I am, and nobody cares.

Actually, everyone talks about you behind your back.

I've seen the memos.

Heathen.

That explains why everybody moves away when I sit down on the group W bench.

Rapist, baby killers and father killers hate litterbugs ! Lol

Banning words and choosing not to use words are two different things. There's no such thing as a banned word. The closest we come to here in the US is the N-word, yet it's not illegal for anyone to use... not even in its racist connotation. I don't think it's tongue in cheek at all, there are certain things you just don't say or do as a conservative... yes or no? There are multitudes of things that offend conservative mindsets and cause them to have flip outs all over social media and cause them to engage in boycotts and targeted attacks... yes or no?

Another example ... The War on Christmas.

Referring to anything happening in the month of December with anything but "Christmas" drives them insane. I mean it's not like any other religions have holidays that month! Oh and no short hand no "X-mas" or anything like that. No "Seasons Greetings" like I've been seeing for 49 years ... But not any more cause it hurts the Religious Rights feelings!

I want my America back!

Not to mention:

Social services = socialism

Government aid = socialism

Anything the government does when not Republican = socialism

But government subsidies to the oil industry, the mega farms, Wall Street etc etc (which actually IS socialistic) ... Why that's just "good business"

I guess the topic of "political correctness" is being stirred in the pot of the right-wing media over the last few days ...

... as we've seen several threads and multiple posts about the horrors of "PC" ...

Of course, almost uniformly, when used by the right PC is something that only liberals and/or Democrats do ... it is a catch-all term on those cases for equality ... racial, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc.

It's reaching a fever pitch ... I guess the reality of Obergefell is really starting to hit home.

... and of course, we aren't just talking about the PC that we all encounter, that is, some group or another trying to amend or correct certain phrases or ways of talking about certain topics so that there is less hostility generated, or that words and phrases are less generally hurtful to some people ...

... oh no, this is a full-scale unified effort by all of academia, the entertainment industry, political action groups, Democrats and liberals of course --- to establish a complete tyrannical police state that basically embodies (at least, in the doom-porn) all the evils and horrors (both real and imagined) of the Soviets, the Nazis, Atilla the Hun, Genghis Kahn, Caligula, Ming the Merciless and Emperor Palpatine ...

I just wondered if anyone is aware of the source of this new influx of irritation that's hitting the right-wing community ... I mean, I would guess it's mainly though Fox News, Rush, Hannity, Colter, Beck et. al. ...

As satire? Yeah, it absolutely would be brilliant. Far surpassing Stephen Colbert. And some people actually didn't understand that the Colbert Report was satire, and that was even put out there that the show was satire. So how much more brilliant would it be, for you not to even see it as such? Lol.

Would be genius. Because in the latter case, it's dementia patients. Look it up if inclined.

And probably, regardless as is the case, an individual's capacity for intelligence or artistry to start.
