I am a fan of the bible as a book that is on the edge of history and time, in a similar way to Homer's Illiad or Heroditus Histories. Watched a
program recently (Secrets of the Bible: Sodom and Gomorroah) where - using the text of the bible - an archaeologist found and excavated a site and
discovered it was flattened by a meteorite ('Fire and Brimstone'). I accept that this is circumstancial evidence but if an event of such great
magnitude actually occurred then it would be recorded by those people nearby. Likewise a massive flood would also be recorded.
I sometimes think we miss this aspect of the book, because the religious beliefs the in the way
