As many as 10 people are dead and 14 injured from a explosion that rocked an apartment complex in Mulhouse, eastern France. Officials believe that the source of the explosion is a gas leak, and are investigating. As many as 30 people lived in the complex. Many people may have been away due to the Christmas holiday.
MULHOUSE, France (AFP) - Ten people were killed, 14 were injured and several were missing after an explosion in an apartment block in Mulhouse, eastern France, which was believed to have been due to a gas leak, rescue services said.

Firefighters using sniffer dogs worked through the night to search for victims of the blast, which devastated a four-storey building that was believed to house around 30 people in all.

Early on Monday officials said they had pulled eight bodies from the ruins and located two others, but had not yet been able to extricate them from the rubble.

They are speculating that the explosion occurred on the first or second floor. It seems a logical conclusion that it was a gas leak and not a terrorist act. But, the Chechnyan rebels did go after apartment complexes as part of their terror campaign. This is a developing story and very little information is available.
