What's wrong with "window"

A little while ago, I was posting a reply in a thread and it included the word window. For some reason, it would not display that word in my post, as if it were the n word or some other insult. I've run in to this before and as long as you put it in quotes, it will display just fine. Like this "window". But, try it without the quotation marks and you get window. [ I just tried to spell it there without the marks ]
What's going on?

It has something to do with coding. I don't remember exactly, but it's a fairly old issue.

I think its when you have a full stop after it window window.

Something to do with a glitch in the coding.

Simply put, the ATS staff is windowphobic.

It is a word that must not be spoken.

Like dongle or coc aine.

eta: Perhaps dongle is no longer forbidden?

Hmm. Maybe the mods have been locked in The Fortress too long? I mean, S.A. has to let them out sometime....right?

Just don't try to put coc aine on your dongle.

Not exactly a "glitch" as just overzealous filtering.

If you write certain types of code such as javascript - which this site uses - some words have very specific meanings. The word "window" followed by a period is used to send commands to the browser window.

To limit the risk of people trying to do any fancy hacking on the site, the system automatically replaces some combinations to prevent them being seen as commands. Thus, you cannot type a sentence ending in the word window.

Oddly enough, the original combination is still accepted and stored in the database, it's just run through a filter (presumably in php) before being served back to your browser window.

There's a bit more of an assessment of the situation in the following link:

It's an old issue that in my opinion should have been addressed some time during all the recent updates. Why hasn't it been?

See the post above yours. It has to do with _javascript coding, and is a safety feature to prevent commands being sent that shouldn't be.

You just typed two no three sentences ending with the word "window". What's up with that? How?

Oh really? You know this for a fact? There is a window object in _javascript that can cause changes to the script.

This is ATS. The answer is always either magic or aliens.

Sometimes there's more to javascript than meets the eye. The same goes for window.

Absolutely not nonsense. Though you'd actually be using the document object, but that's accessible via window.document - presumably you know that already, of course, as you know enough to write this all off as "nonsense"

Edited to add: OK, I'll amend this statement a little bit. The theory isn't nonsense. In practice, you have to do a handful of other things to write a post that would then run as javascript - and those things should also be blocked. If those measures are in place then it really shouldn't matter whether or not you type the word window. So, in practice, it's a bit of a nonsensical measure for a whole slew of reasons, not least of which is that it should be completely redundant.
