Should someone (i.e. Ted Cruz) who wants to be the leader of the free world be a bit more ... circumspect in his public remarks though?

I think whomever is running should speak exactly what is on their mind, that is obviously way too altruistic but it would let you know who and what you are getting.

You also wanted to discuss the article or Cruz's comments.

Most of the discussion has been about the article labeling conservatives as racist.

Beez isn't racist. Neither is my pops.

Guess they're closet libs?

God help us when they find out they're actually liberals....

This is me the day I found out I wasn't a racist conservative. . . . .

First I was like. . . awww hells yes, Ima cornservative!

Then someone pointed out that in order to be a racist cornservative, I had to judge people by their skin color and not by their behaviour and then I was like, "What? I'm not a racist conservative?"

And I was all. . .

But then I calmed down aand decided to deal with people calling me racist by developing calm and rational debating skills as seen below. . .

All right, then. Thank you.

It is, for sure, being discussed!! Right?

Anyway - my original idea when I saw the article (and I waited to see if anyone else posted it for a few hours after I saw it)....was -
Who would vote for this guy?

It was much more about Ted Cruz as a contender, than it was about the racism stuff.

In fact, that's all it was - I read his comments, and Fox News' Hannity's response, and I thought - oh god pease no......

I'm more interested in focusing on the big picture. Really.
Thanks for your level-headed participation.

I would agree 100% if we could trust politicians to speak honestly.

Problems in America

Prostitution - 90% say they don't want to do it, and I imagine the other 10% were scared to tell the truth. Prostitution equals Rape. But if we film it, it is legal. Women don't want to be prostitutes.

Adultery - over 50% of marriages end in divorce, one of the leading causes is adultery.

Homeless - The disabled and dispared live homeless. I see the homeless sleeping on the doorsteps of the closed church buildings downtown.

Racism - because it's in the title of the thread, I am sure God is not ok with Racism but I am not sure what that has to do with marriage equality.

Apparently God is ok with the above, and everything else we do to oppress one another. But gay marriage is why we will be punished?

How about we feed the homeless, honor the marriage bed, and protect our women from prostitution. All of these seem more worthy of God's attention than two people consenting to a same sex marriage.

Why would you say God is OK with those things you list?

He's not. However, I have noticed something with progressives and their appeals to faith. They are against God and "legislating morality" when it flies in the face of things they want - abortion limits, anti-prostitution or porn, or basically anything else that might impact their hedonism and personal vices/ However, when it comes to the latest and greatest social programs and subsequent expansion of government, they are all for God and legislating morality.

That God is way too inconsistent for me.

THERE. I CHANGED THE TITLE OF THE OP MYSELF.

NOW. Carry on however you want to, folks.
I'll look forward to seeing sane posts responding to the premise I wanted to bring up to begin with when I check back in.

And thanks, mods, for your help. I forgot I could do it myself if I did it in time.

Were you surprised at Cruz's remarks?

I mean, have you listened to anything else he's said?

I think the mistake that all the Republican candidates are making/will make is trying to play to the stereotypical "Conservative" that the media has created for all of us.

I think that's what Cruz (and some of the others) is/are doing.

For the record, I think Hillary is doing the exact same thing the other way round.

Bernie though ... well, I like Bernie. LOL

What about Christian Progressives?

Are they also "against god"?

People will vote for Cruz. I have no idea why. I won't be.

But let's be honest here: democrats could have a candidate who got up and said "all the problems are the white man's fault, and I propose that every white male gives 90% of their income to the state to support everybody else, and the only job they can have is planting trees and saving whales by attaching themselves to the whales by hemp and absorbing harpoons meant for whales. And oh yea, communism is great so we're gonna do that, too." And people would vote for them. Somebody, somewhere, would say "hell that sounds great, let's do it!" And vote for that person.

Republicans don't have a lock on people voting for batcrap crazy candidates.

(No, that is not how I view liberals, I simply tried to come up with the most ultra left wing monologue I could on the fly)

Not necessarily. I'm talking about when I get God thrown at me to support one bit of legislation by the same person who tells me I shouldn't be legislating my religion and morality at another turn, and you cannot deny this happens.

For the record, I have no real idea whom I will vote for yet. I'm not even really paying much attention beyond who's in the game. The election itself doesn't take place for another year and a half and primary season doesn't actually start in this area until sometime after the start of the New Year.

So I figure at this point it profits me little to get wrapped up worrying too much about it beyond the general gist of things.

Not that I am Cruz fan but what did he say against any one particular race or races? Not seeing it.

'Cause that is the left's go-to for everything.

right...that's the "go to"....where would the left get any of these silly, nonsense ideas?....in your mind absolutely nowhere, because there is no more racism acccording to supreme court chief justice Roberts...it's all over.....so the left is just blowin' smoke right?....and of course, the people to ask about that, are "white men".....because they know racism when they see it

I realize the OP title is what it is, but I have to ask, "when did gays become a race to make Cruz's comments racism?" I guess deliberate misdirection and inaccuracy are the new rule for "clown" journalism.

Cheers - Dave

Sorry that was sarcasm. I forget sarcasm doesn't always come across the internet. I changed my post to reflect the sarcasm.

My point is simple. Our country is so far from Christian values that it is stupid to claim that Gay Marriage is the One thing that will bring God's destruction.

No, because that's the lefts answer for everything from disagreeing with the president to being against gun control to wanting lower taxes--racism, racism, racism like an eternally broken record.

Why do we have to have so many labels for people? Whats with all the separations? Your playing their game. Why? You've gotta know by now that the game is rigged?

So we can know what camps to send them to.

(I'm hoping my camp has archery and canoes!)

Thanks that gave me a chuckle.
