What you are seeing is Progressive ideals being pushed on the following masses while the masters at the top form Oligarchies. The progressive ideals keep people in line using fear weakness. TPTB push the rights of the masses for a reason......I love how people cry about a one world government and than call themselves progressives.....Irony at it's best.

What progressive ideals? Is freedom and equal application exclusive to Progressive ideology?

Anytime I hear someone chirp about progressives, I can't help but wonder if they have fallen for the propaganda. The "evil progressive" dogma is part of that, you know.

Actually you have things a little backwards........Progressives love crap like this because they use it to divide. That is why we need to just follow the constitution which is for separation of church and state.

It is a simple concept guys.........Anything religious needs to stay at home.......This is what the founding fathers wanted.

If you study political trends and language, you may have noticed that at one point the Left tried to incorporate the same propaganda techniques as the Right, and failed miserably. They were not radical enough to pull it off and they did not have a stranglehold on the media as was required.

I was unaware of this having happened before. When was this?

It began right after 9/11. You can see a slight change in the attitude and language used by the "left".

After 9/11, the Republicans were able to quickly capitalize on the event to push certain agendas and gain favorable opinion for it by generating guilt and sympathy. The Left noticed this and began to use the same rhetoric and language, but it was ineffective as you have to go "all-in" with the propaganda or it would not work. Also, the techniques do not work well with the platforms the Left had built for it's political ideology.

So why are you throwing Progressives under the bus on this? Progressives aren't the ones constantly trying to inject religion into the government. Progressives are some of the people trying to remove it.

Like why are you ranting about Progressives in the first place?

Maybe the left and the right is only valid at the bottom of the food chain.......At the top they could care less about these divides and use progressive ideals and conditioning to divide and dominate the masses.

Let me go at this topic in a different way.....Individual rights are what the founding fathers wanted how can you justify religion in public spaces and still follow this simple concept.......You cant.

Go relearn the difference between history and tradition. You can't teach religious DOGMA and TRADITION in schools. You can DAMN well teach the religion's history as you JUST proved by saying you are allowed to talk about the Holocaust. Seriously, learn the difference. You make yourself look uninformed and ignorant when you say things like you are.

I was taught religious history in secular school also.

However, how old are you?

That is no longer allowed and hasn't been allowed in secular schools for a very long time.

My daughter and sister have openly said they would be fired for teaching anything at all about religion in the classroom, even in the context of a history lesson.

I too would have been fired from the University or censured if I had spoken of the religious history of marriage or parenting in the classroom.

Your experience is outdated from what is going on today.

The history of religion can only be taught in a university class clearly labeled the history of religion, other than that, it can not be taught in secular schools, according to my currently teaching daughter and sister who are teachers in public schools, in Texas no less.

Your experience is past history, pun intended.

You make yourself look uninformed and ignorant when you base your assumptions on your own personal past experience, which is no longer relevant in today's world.

If we are outlawing one religion from the public arena, we should outlaw all religions in the public arena to be fair, just, and tolerant of everyone. To single out one religion is wrong, so the Supreme Court should demand the removal of all religious references, statues, etc from all courthouses, including SCOTUS because it is unjust to single out one religion to be banned, but to allow all others. Honestly, if they ban the 10 Commandments from a courthouse, they ought to be scrubbed from SCOTUS or they are being unfair and unjust and unequal.

Actually I have. My Democrat friends aren't "scared" of guns -- this is a lie perpetuated by the Republican party. They actually look at the issue logically. Why the heck does someone need all these guns? Why are crazies getting these guns? Why are there so many loop holes?

Whenever I hear someone ranting about "progressive" attitudes I wonder what rock they've been living under their entire lives.
This is bizarre, do these people really not understand social evolution?
Do they actually want to remain static and dogmatic, at a fixed point in time, while the rest of the world moves on and evolves?

That's all "progressive" means, PROGRESS.
I would really like to know what these people think the alternative to progress is, backwards?

Ah, I think I might have answered my own question there. Seems to me a lot of those who decry the "progressive" are those who might want to bring back slavery

Indeed, people I know that are Democrats don't do well with "propaganda" -- they don't succumb to fear-based memes and advertising. They tend to read more into the issues, and even explore their opponents viewpoints for a larger perspective.

You've got to be kidding. Don't succumb to fear based memes? Have you been paying attention to the gun control debate? AGW deabte? The healthcare debate? Every budget debate since before the Clinton Administration--Republicans want seniors to eat dog food or choose between food and medicine ring a bell?

There's a big difference between organised propaganda and fear-based rhetoric. Yes, they tried that tactic and it did not work well. The propaganda from the right has been so successful that an entire section of our population not only believes it, but regurgitates it word for word in a discussion and will not relent to facts or context.

Progressives follow the breeze.............Progressives at the bottom just follow what they are told to follow. I follow the constitution and so should the masses......Life would be much better.

Let me make my point clearer.......Progressives will point at this and say we should follow the constitution and than say we should ban guns in the next breath........Floating in the wind. Conservatives it seems are not much better.........Look at the bigger issues guys.

There are even those on the left that are pro-2nd, such as myself. I am a socialist and I am better at defending and articulating my 2nd amendment rights than any of these so-called "patriot" gun nuts.

You raise some very valid points! Very valid...

I just did a check, the Democrats have failed 4 out of the last 5 times to secure three consecutive presidential terms. The odds are NOT in favor of the Democrats winning the White House again.

How the Republicans are going to snag a presidential win are beyond me. It's going to be a wild ride on their side of the isle. They'll do a thorough job weeding themselves out in the primaries, and it'll be interesting to see how much mud they end up slinging at each other instead of the Democratic candidates.

That's the thing, the in-fighting among candidates is what makes me think there's a shot for another Democrat to win the WH in 2016. The Republican party is fractured into so many sub-groups (tea party, libertarians, hardcore Christian, former moderates) -- there's a little sub-group for everyone! Everyone has a candidate just for them!

It'll be a wild ride...

It's up to Oklahoma! If they don't want to show the "establishment of religion" in government, It's only right to take it down.

I must say, I'm enjoying the move towards a more secular government, as it was meant to be.

Have we ever had three consecutive Democrats in the WH before?

I don't think so... FDR and Trueman covered 20 consecutive years, though. LOL!

I'm asking because I forsee the Republicans taking the WH "somehow".

Another Democrat after Obama would only be 2 consecutive Democrats... Or did you mean 3 consecutive terms? Because that's happened before. Jackson and Van Buren.

Wow, this thread has truly gone off topic big time.

Everyone just bashing each other for the fun of it, guns, progressivism, media, propaganda etc.

Except for me, when was the last post that even mentioned the topic? Talk about thread drift, since I was here last the thread has gone off the cliff.

There is no subject more fascinating, in my opinion, than propaganda and it's effects on a population. I've studied as much as I can get my hands on and I have become very sensitive to it. What we see today would have to be one of the worst periods in history where an entire section of a population has become it's victim.

It needs to stop, and soon. Nothing good will come of this nation if we do not wake people up to the lies and deceit they are being fed.

So basically, when your side reacts to "fear based memes" and regurgitates all of the incorrect information contained therein, it is "looking at it logically," but the other side is only reacting out of fear? Sounds like observer bias to me.

Progressives want to PROGRESS as a society, regardless of outdated opinions written on a piece of paper a damn long time ago.

The Constitution is a great historical document, but it's not a guidebook for eternity, evolution and progress be damned.

Society moves on, attitudes change, the physical world alters, you cannot possibly expect one document to be adhered to absolutely and forever unchanged.

If they try to ban firearms, they will fail. That is never going to happen and I doubt they will even try. Except for maybe a few idiots.
