I would of just been egging any of them on.
"go on son hit with the axe!".
I wonder if any of them get badly hurt?.

I feel like "shortness of breath" and "cardiac arrest" are probably the most prevalent injuries there. Several of those fellas look pretty...."stout." Lol

It looks like a laugh.

Unfortunately for me, I cannot appreciate having a laugh with swords, because swords and axes are for perforating bowels, and removing vital sections of someone's anatomy with, not scoring points. They are tools which are specifically built for only one legitimate purpose, and that is to defend ones life and the lives of ones family, friends and neighbours, by the visceral ending of the lives of ones enemies.

To use them for mere entertainment, frankly cheapens the blades they use. Either there is to be blood, or the blades should remain in their respective sheaths, scabbards, and other assorted harnesses and carriage mediums.

I think big sticks would be just as much fun.

Oh.. Now, a good stick swinging match, a good old fashioned bludgeoning?

That's a sport I can get behind!

Mind you many of them do this also.

Oh the fight at around 3 mins...

Good on them attempting to bring back an old martial art.

LARP on steroids.

That was exactly my first thought when I saw the video. At least they don't have pig guts in their armor or something to make things more real. There's nothing quite like a simulated disemboweling.

I love the costumes and the fact there is no blood and gore. LOL

This is awesome! I would sooooo love to do that, channel my inner Brienne of Tarth and take out all that stress on the battlefield. If only they had a league near me...

I've been watching these videos, and these are not guys having a laugh. Among the teams, these battles are taken seriously, and these are full contact matches (bruises, broken bones, and yes, even some blood). There is also honor and sportsmanship between the teams.

The combatants spend months and years training, and to manage to not fall down while having a buckler slammed into your face mask, or a halberd slammed onto your shoulder while wearing 40 to 80 lbs of armor, takes discipline and great physical strength and conditioning.

The long sword duels are extremely entertaining to watch as well, since in many of them, the swordplay is fast and furious as the combatants vie for points.

I hope the sport really takes off, and retains its honesty and spirit.
