A year ago we had the earthquake in Bam, Iran
now this near Sumatra, with the casualties at 10000 and rising

would this be the intentional result of "someone" testing nuclear devices?

The potential advantages of such type of warfare would also be that it would be like a form of terrorism, in this case everyone will blame it on Nature.
