Wait for what, exactly? Fukushima to be the end of Humanity?

If that were the case, you'd think four years after the disaster began at least Japan would be a radioactive wasteland by now.

Lookin' out my window now, one second.

Hmmm... Nope, no wasteland here.

"Wait for what, exactly? Fukushima to be the end of Humanity?"

For one, do not try to imply something that I didn't say.

No, the only thing Fukushima is going to be the end of is some peoples credibility.

Unless of course you subscribe to the mentality of the nut jobs at enenews, then we all should have died years ago.

"Wait for what, exactly?

I would say wait and see what happens ( actually that's the only choice any of us has ).... you will have plenty of time.... nothing is going to change at Fukushima for a long long long time. There has never been a triple core meltdown....the future of Fukushima is unknown at this point.

Please do not confuse me with the Fukushima Doom Porn purveyors.... I hate that stuff.

Ahh. I must have misinterpreted your post. So often when people say "Just wait and see!" they're alluding to the doom porn that's so often pushed here. I apologize.

and that video is a joke blatant pro nuclear industry propaganda ,,,its the cesium 137 notice they did not even mention this but
just went on about iodine 131 .

this is an ongoing problem that is still causing vast destruction to the planet.
you must be a pretty sick human to deny what this is doing and will continue to do.

Actually that video is from a student (or maybe graduate, I'm not sure) of nuclear science. After I saw that video I went digging into his channel, aside from his vapid anti-feminist ramblings, he posts videos of his work at a Neutron Reactor. One of them, he put an iPod into a neutron beam. It was really cool!

So no, it's not "Blatant Pro-Nuclear Industry Propaganda". In fact, in several of his videos he goes on at length about how dangerous radiation really is.

I hope you two extreme posters can realize that the reality can be in the middle. There could be a lot of cancer victims who are showing up now due to the cesium for the local Fukushima prefecture. It has a small half-life, and this type of cancer would show up fairly quickly. You can have both a lack of and EOTWAWKI scenario, and a rise in specific cancers within a limited area, without any confliction. It can both be an issue for the local area to some degree, and a non-issue to the globe at the same time.

Japan isn't dying, the world is a-okay, but increased cancer is a reality for the local area. To what extent it's truly increased? I don't know, but when you have tiny rates to begin with, you can have it multiplied several fold and still have a relatively small amount of the population affected.

The water we are talking about has no contact with radioactive material. It is literally "crap" and is dredged out and left to blow to the winds. This is just like the water that cools any other steam turbine in the world, regardless of its heat source. I agree, however, that zero discharge polices are nothing but PR. There is no true zero discharge site. On the radioactive side, PVNGS will not evaporate their radioactive water when it is raining. This is because tritium will be detectable near the site.

In theory it has no contact with radioactive materials.

However, that was not my point. My point being that Reactors require huge amounts of 'fresh water' to cool.
