A recent report from the U.S. State Department says Iran is a State sponsor of terror.

Well why can't the Administration make up their minds about Iran?

I suppose next we will see nuclear smuggling.

This has no influence on the talks I suppose.

By the way, we haven't been hearing much about those talks have we.

Hmmm.

State Dept. Report Names Iran as State Sponsor of Terror, Proliferation Concern

The State Department’s 2014 Country Reports on Terrorism (.pdf) once again listed Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism and called the Islamic Republic a “proliferation concern,” according to an analysis of the report written by Lt. Col. (ret.) Michael Segall and published today by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA).

Chapter 3 of the report, which deals with “State Sponsors of Terrorism,” again puts Cuba, Iran, Sudan, and Syria on the list of terror-supporting states. The chapter notes that Iran was already “designated” as a terror-supporting state in 1984 and gives an elaborate rundown of the various spheres in which it operates. It says Iran tried to smuggle weapons to Palestinian terror groups in Gaza and that, while still focusing on the Middle East; it also stepped up efforts to boost its influence in Africa, Asia, and, to a lesser extent, South America. The document states further that the Qods Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is the operative arm of Iran’s foreign policy and the mechanism for cultivating and sponsoring foreign terror elements, provides cover for intelligence operations and sows instability in the Middle East.

The State Department report explains the designation by noting Iran’s support of the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, including its recruiting of Iraqi and Afghani troops to fight on the dictator’s behalf; its support of the Shiite militias that “have exacerbated sectarian tensions in Iraq” by committing human rights abuses against Sunnis; and its support of terrorist groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The report also notes that Iran’s arming of Hezbollah violated United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.

Well ...

Are they? or Aren't they?

I still think that the theory about Jade Helm being a show of force and capabilities of the US to invade Iran and have a multi national war was/is spot on.

Too many distractions going on right now! US aiding the separatist getting no real attention and the Iran issue, whats up?

The first time they named Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism was in the 1980's.

Maybe, maybe it's just propaganda .

King Salman of Saudi Arabia has sent his most beloved son as a personal envoy to meet Putin. The king’s choice of Mohammad bin Salman (MbS), a young man, thirtyish, as the trusted interlocutor with Putin at a momentous point in the Kingdom’s history is hugely symbolic, because the prince is also widely regarded as hugely influential figure today in steering the Saudi foreign and security policies in a radically new direction, as the kingdom steps out of the shadows of the seven-decades old alliance with America.

Mohammad bin Salman al Saud
Mohammad bin Salman al Saud
The US’ engagement with Iran has profoundly upset Saudi Arabia. One may agree or disagree with the legitimacy of the Saudi grievances, but their gravity is indisputable.

Saudi Arabia sees the imminent US-Iranian nuclear deal as signifying the commencement of a new era in Middle Eastern politics characterized by a much broader entente between Washington and Tehran in regional politics.

The Saudis tried hard to dissuade Washington from deepening its engagement with Iran and it pulled all stops in the US political establishment with all the money power at its command. But it hasn’t worked.

It hasn’t worked, primarily because the US and Saudi interests no longer converge vis-à-vis the deepening Middle East crisis.
atimes.com... do you think the Saudi's will buy it?

This has no influence on the talks I suppose.

Why should it when the people complaining the most also gives arms to terrorist. Israel gives supplies and aid to AL-Nusra Front who in turn gives them to groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS. Also it is well known that America gives arms to terrorist ever hear of Al-Qaeda? At least Iran is giving their weapons to nations that are defending their nations from a group of people who think God became a real estate dealer and gave them the land. Not to mention Iran is helping fight against ISIS while our good ally Israel hides behind their border as usual.

The US is calling out state sponsored terror? Wish I could come up with a sarky line here, but I'm lost for words.

Iran is a State sponsor of terror.

What does the US resent about that? Would be that Iran threatens the US's status as the biggest or the worst State sponsor of terror????

How surprising is it that, a report blaming Iran as a state sponsoring terrorism, is itself sponsored by Israel ?

"Well are they or aren't they?"

Good Question.

The same could be asked of Saudi Arabia,
Syria, Lebanon,Jordan,Yemen, Iraq, Algeria,
Egypt,Tunisia,Libya,Turkey, and even Dubai.

Don't fool yourself girl,
their aiming right up your poop chute.

So that makes Iran less terrorist?

All authoritarians are terrorists.

Even your government !!!

Why do you insist on repeating the same nonsense time and time again about authoritarians, and follow it up with a steady stream of smiley faces?

You've already proven that you don't even know anything about the term.

And who cares what the US or Israel thinks about Iran? It's not as if they are the authority on who the good guys and bad guys are.
