Twister

Swiftly the rain comes crashing down,
Filling all the crevices in the ground.
The feint sound of thunder, a flash of light,
This is how it went most of the night.

Trees bending to the will of the wind,
Standing their ground, not giving in.
A few limbs break from time to time,
Still, they stand fast, holding the line.

In the distance, I see it take shape,
It is a huge twister, make no mistake.
And as I watch it touch to the ground,
I hear it, that unmistakable sound.

After it passes, I run out to explore,
A calm overtakes me like none before,
The wind, the rain, have all gone away,
With beauty, it has all been replaced.

Hundreds of fireflies light up the night,
I watch them as they flash their lights.
The crickets and frogs sing in harmony,
The moon shining bright for all to see.

Amazing how quickly things can change,
From chaos to calmness, life sure is strange....
