*[import and export ban on arms and related technical assistance and financing]. Well, this is one of the point on new economic Sanctions against Russia over it's annexation of Crimea.

But the reports unveils that the fleet of 14 Boeing 747s has already been sold to a Russian company by U.S. This deal – reportedly worth about $7.4 billion.

sputniknews.com...

Europe’s strongest economy Germany, for example, has reportedly seen its exports plummet by up to 20 per cent, largely as a result of the sanctions with Russia, while U.S is having Lucrative deal with Russia, sanction still in valid.

The company was Volga-Dnepr Group and the deal is described as tentative...

Boeing’s widebody business included Volga-Dnepr's tentative deal to acquire another 20 747-8 freighters. The Russian cargo specialist Volga-Dnepr Group is looking to expand a 747-8 fleet operated by its AirBridge Cargo division.

German exports to Russia have dropped over the last year by 20%. Russian exports to Germany have also dropped. Sanctions don't cover all goods and services, just a handful. This is described in the below link for the EU and the US separately.

> EU Sanctions on Russia
> US sanctions on Russia

You don't expect the U.S govt to actually follow their own rules, do you? They're gonna do what ever profits them the most and just find loopholes to explain it all away. Now, if you or I were to try something like this.....well, I hope you like prison and have a good bankruptcy lawyer.

Do as I say, not as I do, right ;-) in 1988 the US sold a billion dollars in weapons to Saddam. The deal was authorized by the state department, promoted by the CIA and handled by a US ambassador. The deal was actually done through South Africa which the US had major sanctions and weapons embargoes against at the time. The US weapons that were sold to Saddam by the US, we're used against US soldiers during the Gulf War. Brings a whole new meaning to the term "friendly fire."

Cheers - Dave

Utilizing these Executive Orders, the United States has steadily increased the diplomatic and financial costs of Russia’s aggressive actions towards Ukraine. We have designated a number of Russian and Ukrainian entities, including 14 defense companies and individuals in Putin’s inner circle, as well as imposed targeted sanctions limiting certain financing to six of Russia’s largest banks and four energy companies. We have also suspended credit finance that encourages exports to Russia and financing for economic development projects in Russia, and are now prohibiting the provision, exportation, or reexportation of goods, services (not including financial services), or technology in support of exploration or production for deepwater, Arctic offshore, or shale projects that have the potential to produce oil in the Russian Federation, or in maritime area claimed by the Russian Federation and extending from its territory, and that involve five major Russian energy companies.

m.state.gov...

I see defense, economic development, and oil exploration. I don't see anything about 747s to a private organization.

Why is the US being hypocritical? Not all goods are on a sanctions list and this applies to Russian trade. For example, the reciprocal Russian sanctions don't constrain this deal.

Mine was a broad claim, I can provide many examples if you would like? According to this, no, they are not being hypocritical in this narrow margin. What exactly is the point of sanctions against a country if you are going to trade with them anyways?!? That would be in the more broad hypocritical section.
