Will have a moment of honesty. Seeing I'm very drunk.

I'm tiered of most people, politics especially. Tiered with political discussions. American politics and culture in general has become, well, absurd. Just. Friggin. Silly.

Corporations and financial institutions run the economy AND government. Right wing stooges think some sort of "communist" NWO is on the horizon. Mainstream "social conservatives" are hell bent (literally) on Jesus porn. "Liberals" eat up spoon fed "democratic" party nonsense and that's just 15% of the population who pays attention to "politics". I'm close to quitting politics. Or paying attention.

Ya know, I fully agree. And I believe that the US has the potential to maintain it's economic and cultural influence in the global stage. But nobody in DC wants to look far enough past their petty differences to keep it afloat.

Ever wondered why booze is encouraged in the Western world because the politicians and their elect hope we will simply get so pi--ed we won't bother them. Works doesn't it alcohol anaesthetic

I assure you, oh great mechanical leader, that I am thoroughly soused as well. On occasion, alcohol is merely the required lubricant to wax loquacious.

Ever read Hemmingway or Bukowski? Anyhow, I don't even remember posting this thread. I don't know if that's funny or sad.

Ya, the old Orwell thing about "proles" being distracted with booze, mindless movies and sports. Maybe. I guess the Roman's worked some of this with their fancy arenas.

Perhaps apathy is actually healthy at some point. If you live in a world that doesn't live up to your expectations it can drive you mad, if you're constantly focused on the negative. A deep sense of alienation may result if one pays too close attention to politics/economics. Or if one constantly disagrees with the way the world works.

People in general are probably much happier if they accept the current state of affairs. Just go to work everyday. Vote every now and then. Sing the national anthem at baseball games etc. Mow your lawn every Saturday. Talk about the weather with neighbors. Like a Norman Rockwell painting. Or the 1950's.
