I'm a fan of survival type stories, and of people who by being born into or by external circumstance or by choice, live and survive in the remotest parts of the world.
Some of my fave movies being Into the Wild, 127 hours and Cast Away.

Meet Heimo Korth and his family

Heimo Korth is the last man standing in 19 million acres of Alaskan wilderness. His neighbors are polar bears and caribous. Say good bye to civilization and see how they do it in the arctic circle on the last frontier in America.

As an old "woodsboy[/i,] that was the best 52 minutes I've spent anywhere in a long time. A terrific doc and interview and the camera work under those conditions was excellent.

In 2005 I spent 3 weeks on the South Fork of the Koyukuk River. To live out there, above the Arctic Circle takes a special kind of person. I was more than happy to return to civilization after my adventure. It is breathtaking in it's beauty and isolation. I just don't think I would have what it takes to go off grid like that.
