I think that's becoming a bit of a biased opinion at this point. Some of this seems to indicate a clear plan, a real methodology. You don't just randomly wander into a black church and kill a Senator then disappear during a wild bomb threat. Sounds too level headed for anyone on that level of mentality.

I agree. It seems like this story is far from over.

Since a good distraction is everything, what do we know about the Senator. He had to be working on something, maybe it was important.

Seems like he was catching wind of some kind of election scandal?

Jasper County Election

Three Jasper County election commissioners who were notified in May they were not being reappointed have been informed by state Sen. Clementa Pinckney that their removal was never a formal decision by the county’s legislative delegation.

Pinckney, D-Jasper County, says they are still members of the commission.

On May 26, delegation chairman Bill Herbkersman sent letters to Rev. Donald Sheftall, Patricia Walls and Lillian King stating that their services were no longer needed because of background checks by the governor’s office.

“We have been informed by the Governor’s office that due to the circumstances and or credit reported, you have not been appointed/re-appointed to the Jasper County elections commission,” the letter said. “You are not to conduct any Elections Commission business either officially or unofficially.”

The letter said they can resubmit applications.

“I was shocked,” Sheftall said. “I have a copy of what the governor sent to the delegation and the letter that they sent to the delegation just informed them that they’ve done a background check, a credit history, and they just enclosed unto them a copy of that.”

Sheftall has been on the commission for 16 years and has also served as chairman. He said he is not sure why his background check would be basis to remove him.

He is also involved in something called Project VoteSmart per wikipedia.

Is there anyway this could have been random with that church at that time?

I think he had to be a target for some reason..

How would a temporary shutdown yesterday at a naval base hundreds of miles away be related? I know this is a conspiracy site, but come on.

It could have been random, but with the senator involved, I don't think it was. Time will tell.

There is always a chance it could be random of course, but I find it a bit hard to believe at the moment. Luckily there were survivors, so perhaps there is video of the incident out there that has yet to be uploaded or widely seen.

If firearms were banned in SC, this wouldn't have happened.

That's incredibly faulty reasoning. Drugs and such are banned, but I can still get hold of them if I want. Same goes for weapon types that are banned. Take your anti-gun rhetoric somewhere else.

Fully agree. I don't think a single crime has ever been committed by someone with an illegal firearm.

My heart goes out to the victims and their families. This is just terrible..... I hope they catch this pathetic excuse of the human being.

I'm sure they will. Even if the church didn't, some business nearby undoubtedly has cameras that will have seen him at some point. I'll bet he's caught within 48 hours, and likely sooner.

Apparently the shooter let a survivor live so she could tell others what she saw there:
