It either moves or it's an image artifact.

I'm open to it being either.

It looks like some sort of image artifact.

Any idea on what it could be?

He just said it..

Anyways;
When looking at the latest "bright spot on Ceres images", it appears that the light comes off an rather tiny area when considering the Hubble pictures from 2004 where it appears to be too bright as if coming from such a small spot, so either the spot lost size by now, or we can exclude frozen stuff like ice or methane, salt may be still option but the conditions to give off such a reflections are very limited, i have my doubts..
We shouldn't picture it, but read it.. my guess!

Interesting first post.

No introduction either.

Hi welcome aboard, I was asking about the small square shaped object to the right of the bright spot in the top left.
Zoom in and you will see.

I know what you have been asking for and it has been answered already.. i know this distortion from hundreds of thousands other pictures, if it was really something else, you would probably know it

// switch between images to see that it is dust on the camera, no question

You've seen hundreds of thousands of pictures of Ceres?

Well blow me down, what an achievement!

Have you contacted NASA to share some, I think they might be quite interested.

The little artefact that fly's around in the Gif file, Does it look a bit like this?

From another full pic of Ceres

Artefact or otherwise, it appears to me to be the same thing

Here are the two links i found in this thread:
i.imgur.com...
www.jpl.nasa.gov...

Just for you, the easy way:
Open both pictures in different browser tabs;
Spot the artifact on both pictures;
Switch between both tabs, eyes on the artifact.. ding!

Actually many of the mentioned pictures is nasa property, give reading more attention, Ceres was not called.

Ceres Image Repository

If you look through the pictures on the site you will find that there are many pictures with similar artifacts. The round ones shown above and black dots near them in a triangular fashion. I assume that this is some of framing marker and that the images we are being shown, are in fact a composite of various images.

Has anyone taken a look at the new image they have up?

New Picture

Take a look at the bottom of the picture, if you look at it closely you can clearly see image artifacts that appear to show it has been inserted into the picture. You ask me someone at NASA is screwing with us.

IMO, there's something on CERES that would shock and/or amaze all of mankind into utter awe.
