Unlike air conditioning screens are not a new concept. They keep bugs out.
Oh and as for spiders, I doubt you're in much danger unless you're small enough for one to catch you and wrap you up to eat later that is.
While we're addressing the insect issue let's remember that they make repellents you can spray on or even just clip on your belt.

I have arachnophobia. I just can't stand spiders. Just looking at them makes me want to run off screaming.

Did I mention fresh picked tomatoes still warm from the sun . Basil pesto and the freshest peppers possible?
What about carnivals and amusement parks. Roller coasters after dark, fireworks. Hotdogs. The icecream mans truck playing that music bit that you can hear for blocks before he gets to your street.

I agree with everything you said, you painted a beautiful picture of the best of summer

Cant wait for my tomatoes!

The only part I have an issue with is the 'ice cream truck', they aint what they used to be. In fact more often than not I am totally repulsed by what passes for ice cream trucks anymore.
At least where I live.

Brings this to mind,

Maybe I need to move!

My glass is half full.

Of summer that is! Yippy ey oh ki ay!
Remember singing this song on the last day of school.

No more pencils.
No more books.
No more teachers
Dirty looks.
And my very naughty brother would add
Kick the tables.
Kick the chairs.
Kick the teacher,
Down the stairs.

You read my mind!
I can hardly think of a thing to add...

This weekend past watching everyone on the lake hooting and hollering and kids falling off of their skis and tubes...
working outside in the yard, jumping in to cool off! The flowers I love!
I do not miss the bare trees or the cloudy gloomy days of winter time. Our winters aren't usually that bad for long but, we had an awful ice storm in February and the devastation lasted about two weeks or longer. Spring/Summer couldn't get here quickly enough for me!
My S.O can't stand the heat/humidity. One of the reasons that we left Florida many years ago.

I DO love the kiddos being out of school but, my grocery bill doesn't...LOL...They certainly can eat more when they are home all day!

Thank you for the compliment.
Oh and yeah on those trucks. CREEPY !

Here's another picture for you.
Sitting on the front porch swing as the sky turns that deep rich blue of twilight. Kids laughing in the distance. The ree ree of crickets gearing up for the nights concert and the sweet smell of the honey suckle climbing over the fence.

Oh they sure can eat more and I'm pretty sure the sun and warm temps make them grow as fast as the flowers do. How does the school manage to feed them lunch for a $1.50 ???

I have a cat. Seems some are afraid of what others love.

Here's one for the coastal folks.

A cloudless blue shy. The sand warm beneath your feet and the constant shush shush of waves lapping at the shore. A gull laughing as it soars overhead. The warm air fragrant with the salty spray.

It isn't summer yet!

It was in the low 100s here yesterday. We have no water in CA. I worshipped the a.c. God yesterday...all day!

Peaches, still warm from the Sun, right off the trees in my back yard. Or melons, straight from my garden. A big handful of raspberries from the bush growing along my fence. Strawberries from the big patch I planted a few years ago. Beautiful women in short dresses.....Yeah, Summer is Hell.
