This video does an amazing job at breaking down the casualties of war for both soldiers and civilians during WW2. It then compares those numbers with past and future conflicts in a way that's easy to understand.

Some say we are in a state of peace when you compare our behavior to past atrocities. I have a tendency to remain optimistic even in times of great conflict, but do not remain ignorant to the blood being shed. When you focus long enough on the conflict you will eventually come to believe that's all there is.

War has developed a new face. The guns aren't as loud and the deaths associated aren't as obvious. To see it happening clearly requires great objectivity which many are not ready to adopt. Reducing a country's standing army no longer compares to indirectly crippling their economy and infrastructure through proxy.

If war does not directly take your life, it may indirectly take your soul. Do not be left lifeless and apathetic when listening, watching or reading about current affairs. History is often dictated by false prophets, master manipulators and spin doctors.

Question everything and learn to exercise and enjoy every freedom that is naturally awarded to you by birthright. You are to truly alive when you learn to rise above it all and generate your own happiness. With that said, the question remains...

Are we really in a state of peace? In the entire world, are there generally more positive interactions and outcomes than negative ones? Could all the good happening on a small scale overshadow the large scale destruction? Is it a matter of perspective and we are just choosing to focus on the bad? I'm curious how people think.

neat video, and some truely staggering numbers are fairly well explained.

sadly. near the end, it covers how we've had 'peace' between the few dozen 'richest' nations for all this time. It can't last, and it's going to be messy.

thanks for sharing!

The video was removed, not sure if you could find another version of it but that would be nice.
