Do you have a sick mind, or are these images just extremely inappropriate?

My wife showed me this list of 29 Kids Books With Sexual Innuendos that may be extremely inappropriate. I'm sure the writers and illustrators probably had no ill intentions, but I'll leave that judgement up to you. These kind of remind me of those parents with the last name Dick who then choose the ever appropriate name for their child "Harry", without realizing exactly what they just did.

Anyway, here's a few from the list that you can find here. What do you think? List

I think they are all horrible and part of a black magic (subtle and sometime not so subtle) spell to teach children things that they do not need to learn; there innocence is being destroyed and taken from them and I for one do not condone any of what you have posted.

I can't tell if you're angry at me for posting the images or if you're just extremely against the creation of the images themselves. I did mention they were very inappropriate after all.

Also, these are all taken extremely out of context. I'm sure if a child actually read any of these they wouldn't catch on to the otherwise inappropriate nature of them.

I would almost guarantee many of these were done on purpose. Many illustrators and writers already have disturbed minds and knowing that they are just doing these types of job's to pay the bills, they will shadow blatant messages through picture or text, probably as a way to get some pleasure out of their dull work that really will not get noticed by anyone. I'm just conjecturing here but many authors of kids books these days don't illustrate them, so the publisher sends it off to someone to do it freelance or through some agency, and after they read the authors terrible story they equally turn in terrible work mocking the others work.

The book "All my friends are dead" with the dinosaur on it is probably a new age type of way to mix in dinosaurs being dead and gone along with the message of everything dies, just as they once pooped. It's harder and harder today to write a kids book that is a bestseller and is original, there are so many of them about nearly everything, I'm sure soe were also gimmicks to attract adults into buying them for just this same graphic reason, because it is funny and kids don't know wtf is so funny at the time so it really doesn't cause any harm to them, unless the book blatantly says that it's OK for Uncle John to touch you in front of his friends because thats what poker parties are for.

IF you had bothered to check out the link, you'd see a lot of these books are quite old. Some, as an owner of several antique books, are easily recognizable as pushing the vintage age to nearly antique as it is.

Today, yes, they're dirty jokes if you make them so. Back in the day, not so much. Differences in meanings have cropped up over time, stereotypes are more set in stone, etc.

You're not convinced because you want it to be dirty. Not my fault you can't be rational.

Hopefully others are more reasonable and not as knee-jerk.

Well if I laughed myself into vomit inducing hiccups does that mean I have a sick mind? If it does. Well so be it.
And caladonea, I don't think there is a vast conspiracy among graphic artists to poison young minds. I don't think most illustrators and writers all have disturbed minds. I do think they enjoy doing things like that though. Just look at Disney, they've been doing it since Snow White. (Time reference)

You think they had no intention and were innocently, accidentally, putting this in there? THEY ARE PURE EVIL SATANIST PEDOFILES. (can't spell that word and won't look it up).

That is pretty much all I can say with out implicating that a crime scene may have been involved...

Just sayin...

Unfortunately we are all children at heart. Children stuck in adult bodies. That's why paedophilia is so rife in this world. I do not condone it by any means and I think it's disgusting but unfortunately, some adults can't help themselves.

It happens more than anyone can fathom. My current girlfriend and previous girlfriends were abused as children so I have heard plenty of stories.

Seems it's a curse to be pretty. So many predators...

There are enough sickos out there without having to feed their perversions, OP. I feel angry that you would choose to post this.

Titillating smut is nevertheless smut.

It is not at all innocent though it often tries to pass as such. It is exploiting the innocence of children by trying to make it appear like adult humour. However the innuendo is most definitely sexual and it is not innocent.

In my nursing profession I have seen enough to know that exploiting such stuff and trying to pass it off as humour doesn't pass the muster of good taste with most people, especially as it involves children. And with me who has seen the results of sexual abuse of little ones, it reminds me of those times, and I find this thread disturbing and offensive.

You labelled it as "extremely inappropriate" so I really question why you would post it in the first place. (Part of the T&Cs: "...and will neither Post with language or content that is obscene, sexually oriented, or sexually suggestive nor link to sites that contain such content.") It is most definitely sexually suggestive, again trying to disguise itself as humour.

I've observed that weekends are the times when people push the boundaries with the mods and site owners when it comes to poor taste. I would rank this thread among those.
