^^ Unbelievably apt, I swear. This state has the most bi-polar weather I've ever seen. "Let's make it 80 today, and just above freezing tomorrow morning, then 78 that afternoon! No, rain, let's make it rain for the next week. Or just for 10 minutes. Snow maybe? Graupel, we'll go with graupel." I've only been up here for 9 months now, but I've already received the message loud & clear that trying to predict the weather in MI is useless. I think the meteorologists are just for show at this point.

Aslo, it's pretty much Canada. People are way too nice up here to be real Americans. Except I hear the UP might as well be Finland in spots with the Finnish descendant population.

People are nice here? Where are you from originally? What part of the state are you in now?

I'm from Detroit (Proper, not a suburb).
Been living in the UP for about a year now. They're... a different breed up here.

Edit to add:

Forgot to mention our state bird.

Always wanted to go to Oz, but afraid of the fauna. I have the worst luck with getting bit and stung by critters.

Kangaroos frighten me. At the Detroit Zoo they have an open walk through, there is nothing separating you from them. Only their good will to not rear up and eviscerate you with those nails.

And, because self-deprecating humor is my favorite kind...

Lol . Australia's fauna is ok , you just have to know where they are likely to be and keep an eye out . And your cold most likely kills more than our cuddly little natives .

This last winter, our first in the Upper Peninsula, we had a few days with wind chills below -50F (-46C). One day we had a -62F (-52C) wind chill. It was so cold our husky mix wouldn't go outside.

Edit to add: Air temperatures were around -20F (-29C) then.

I've lived more of my life in SW England though and Dartmoor provides it's own good substitute.
These little fellas are much more used to humans...
