You are a traitor to your own philosophy,
Afraid to be the person you want to be,
Let others tell you what is right and wrong,
They write the music and you sing along.

You accept their answers without question,
Even though deep inside, you scream for more,
If following blindly is what's for the best then,
Why don't you feel happy like you did before?

Why do you worry about the future of mankind,
And what your children will face when its time,
For them to explore the world on their own.
Why are you scared, when they finally leave home?

You are deserter to all of the human race,
Because you are afraid to speak your peace.
You hide in the repetition of the daily grind,
Afraid to let others know what's on your mind.

Protecting your family in your own little way,
Only worried about what you have right now.
It is your own legacy that you have betrayed,
Because of the injustice that you choose to allow.

And when death is knocking hard at your door,
Will you have the same doubts as you did before?
Will you confess to the gods that you were wrong,
That you sang their music, instead of your song?

Is it ideal to be the person you want to be ? Try it, and see . . .what happens to you and yours, when you open the doors, to honesty. You may be the person you want to be inside your mind, but bring it out and you will find . . .they don't like your independence . . .your differences. They . . . being . . .others of your kind. And to keep the others off of your back, you go along with the programs, become a hack. But a traitor, . .a deserter, I don't think so. It's still there . . . in your mind . .back behind the memories . . .of the times, that you did let it out, by mistake . . .and they shunned you.

You can't easily be yourself anymore, or express your honest opinion, because you will be labeled an antagonist. You protect your family, your job, your reputation . . .by keeping your thoughts to yourself. It was easier when you were young, all you had to do was bite your tongue. When you're older . . .even though you feel bolder . . .you remain quiet. A riotous quiet.
