My prediction of the implications of mass surveillance. Don't think you have anything to hide?

This prediction is something I have thought about for quite a while. I did not see it in a dream or hear a voice in my head, I just see it looking at all the available data. I saw a scenario play out in my head and felt like sharing it.

Think about all of our data that has been collected in just the last 5 years of your life. Every email, post, phone call, every purchase you have made online and off if not with cash, what pornography you prefer, every medical record, basically if all compiled together, someone viewing that would have a pretty intimate look into who you are as a person. As time goes by and there are more cameras and more surveillance records even more detail to your history. With advancements in Data storage there is virtually no limit to this collection.

I imagine the system at the NSA is designed to set up a automated Facebook on steroids for tracking any would be terrorists and I am sure it is a very good way of preventing bad things from happening. I know what you are thinking, some of you think, well who cares if person or persons are seeing that, I don't know them, so it doesn't affect me.
You are right in that aspect.

Now think of all that information, all those profiles of everyone! What if that information was leaked, purposely or not. Hackers stealing it, the government making it accessible to everyone. Can you imagine what the implications would be? I would equate it to the judgement of god, but channeled by anyone who decided to take interest in you. Your wife, your boss, your coworkers and in turn you would be doing the same.

This would be the ultimate equalizer. I think if this occurred, we as humans would change, and for the better. If this could happen would you be ready for it? I think this would create the real "New World Order". This would be our synthetic god.

I think you've made a brilliant observation. We are all human and our level of consciousness fluctuates, we are a saint one minute and not so saintly a short time later. Yeah, there needs to be a change in consciousness, wouldn't it be funny if this is how it happens?

PEACE & Three cheers for you!

I'm more concerned about the inevitable creation of A.I., and that A.I. gaining access to all of that data...

Combine it with covert drugging of innocent people and whatever violence they commit will all be on tape. Then the lawyers can have a go in the Media Circus to follow. Once again, Poisoned Bread and Inhuman Circuses for the people while everyone in on it gets rich and a slice of the pie leftover for those who helped set the whole show up.

It's bloody sickening.

Good thread.

I think scientists are using all your data to create artificial intelligence that is indistinguishable from you and all your responses, this can then be used to synthesize a computer intelligent "you".
Maintaining meat based workers is an expensive proposition. We will still need a few slaves to pay homage as you can't be better off than every one else if there is no one left to be better than, richer than and higher status than...

The problem is who are they labeling as terrorists.

Christians and tea partiers are on that list now. Hopefully your 'group' is not.......yet.

They may prevent those labeled as 'terrorists' from doing what the ruling party, I mean government, deems bad.

Frightening prospect to me, although I know it will get huge support by a large percentage of the sheeple, until they realize they are on the list too.

This would be the ultimate equalizer. I think if this occurred, we as humans would change, and for the better.

You see all this spying on citizens, unwarranted, unlimited illegal hoarding of ALL our private information not only acceptable, but a good thing?

And then the possible illegal release of this illegal information,

Hackers stealing it, the government making it accessible to everyone.

as a catalyst for human advancement?

I think this would create the real "New World Order". This would be our synthetic god.

You can have your future 'utopia' and obey your synthetic master.
I personally hope I don't live to see the future you described

I think you missed the point, I would not be obeying anyone. It's just that we would be transparent and you would not want to do stuff that you would be judged for. You could be a total dick if you wanted to, but nobody would want you around.

It's the Old World Order of greed and power, nothing new, except that now it's supported with technology.

The cat is out the bag with the mass surveillance. I don't think government is ever going to give up this gold mine. Even if the intentions were initially noble, this data will eventually be abused. People are not infallible and someone will seek to use the data in nefarious purposes.

The bigger issue is that all this information along with big data and advanced analytical techniques could create a minority report type situation. They will be able to analyze your purchasing habits, travel patterns, entertainment choices, etc and then predict that you are likely to beat your wife, etc and then seek to preemptively stop the crime.

Even though I've always been some what up on the latest technology, I'm starting to get to the point where I want to disconnect. If I could afford it, I would go off grid entirely.

Do you really believe that? You think TPTB are going to just give away their control and everyone will be equal? You think somehow you would be in the ruling class?

The whole idea behind the theft of our information is to use it for TOTAL control. Nothing good will ever come from it.

It's just that we would be transparent and you would not want to do stuff that you would be judged for.

I'm sorry, and please don't take this as an insult, but the naiveté in these two statements alone are enough for me to bow out of this thread.
I do hope your idea of human advancement as described in this thread never has the chance to be implemented.

To me it sounds more like a living nightmare.

Peace, I'm out.

Hi... I know this question wasn't for me, but can I have a go at it please? ...Because they (AI) might just decide who gets to continue living, and who gets zapped to death. And maybe I won't 'measure up' as worthy of breathing the air and consuming the natural resources anymore, based on what they collect about me. And there goes the 'jury of my peers.'

Correction: I would obey the law, you mistook what I meant.

The fact is that society is changing because technology is evolving faster than we are. One day in the distant future we will probably become united as a one world government(someday) if we don't destroy ourselves, hopefully. We are going to need a new system at some point a way to keep politicians honest. I think a whole new form of government to prevent it from becoming corrupt and there wouldn't be any TPTB.

I am not really concerned about the whole A.I. going rouge on humanity.
I don't think an AI would kill us off if it were more advanced than us. Most likely it would surpass us in technology and leave us in the stone age to kill each other off.

Maybe the answer to increased scrutiny is to be shameless.

So, you've discovered my predilection for dressing up as Shirley Temple and snuffling through your underwear hamper with a turnip up my arse. So... What of it?

I'm cool with your fantasy of fifty grades of Grey Alien doing the beastly with you in the middle of a kinky crop circle, so who cares? We can't be blackmailed or manipulated by anyone if we don't buy into their bs notions of morality.

Maybe, it will morph into a group consciousness that we will all be forced to experience. Like that scene from the movie "Zardoz" when the character called Friend refused to merge with the group mind of the other Immortals in the Vortex.

These are the Immortals. They will never die. They cannot. Every time they try to, their bodies are relentlessly restored by the all-knowing mystical computer mind that runs the Vortex.

Yeah, this could probably happen. But who cares?
I sure don't. Let them. They can knock themselves out.
Just as long as I can do whatever I want.

and as for AI...why are people scared of robots? ._.

theyre just stupid hunks of metal. what is so terrifying about that?

now, i'm not saying nothing will ever happen--but if and when it does it sure isn't going to be like a dumb science fiction book. there's no fun in that--it sounds boring and would be really anticlimactic honestly.

no. the NWO is already in full swing~

& has been for quite a while

it's only going forward from here on out--and I'd like to caution against blindly trusting humanity. we have evil within us--we can choose to be good--and that evil in humanity is inhumane--
