That's not a warning. It's an opinion posted as a member based on a current issue on the site.

I'm not moderating this thread.

I take it you assume that every claim made by any individual is a lie?

It's always a rather awkward situation, infuriating even - when people make assumptions

We ought not to do it

Shame this was all over a Muslim woman - that does seem to draw some undue attention

I wonder - would we even be talking about this if she'd been Presbyterian?

:-)

I just read a story from another passenger on her flight...
She had ordered a coke zero and hot green tea with splenda.
The flight attendant brought her a diet coke with a cup on top
of the can telling her her tea would be ready shortly.
The woman didn't want the diet coke she wanted a coke zero.
The attendant looked for one and told the woman that she could
only give her a portion of the coke zero. That is when the woman
got bent out of shape claiming discrimination.
Other passengers said that she was never in tears and paid with a
credit card for the internet service. She was already spinning her
story online during the flight.
Like I said she was a lawsuit looking for a place to happen.

And you assume that person isn't lying?

Why?

That source is anonymous and so far untraceable mamabeth

This doesn't concern you? Interesting you give more weight to this unsubstantiated account over the claims of Tahera Ahmad?

Ms. Ahmad posted this as it was happening to her facebook account. The airline has more than apologized - the person involved apologized

Other passengers said...

What other passengers? There's only just the one - anonymous

Why choose one over the other?

Both are claims made by people that you don't know.

What's the deciding factor?

I was just relating what I had read on another sight. That person
claimed they were a passenger on that same flight.I wasn't there
and I can assume neither was anyone else on this board!

But yet you ended your post by saying that she was making this up for a lawsuit...

She was already spinning her story online during the flight. Like I said she was a lawsuit looking for a place to happen.

So are you really staying neutral here?

There have been so many ridiculous lawsuits someone can
assume this is another one.A can of coke...get real! Now,
if there was something in the can that could pose a health
risk to her okay.

When the claim is as contrived as the one made by this woman, yes. I assume it's a ploy for attention and MOST of the time, I'm right.

I simply can't imagine a woman that is an experienced flight attendant who deals with all sorts of people every day would behave as Tehara Ahmad has claimed.

I also refuse to believe that a random man would say "You Muslim, you need to shut the f*** up."

Those are not normal behaviors from people. I've seen plenty of people behave like A-holes but folks don't blatantly get in someone's face like that unless there's about to be a physical altercation. The way she describes the situation "I saw the hate in his eyes" also makes it all sound imaginary... the same as her previous story about the people in the movie theater which she ASSUMES are talking about her.

Nothing about her story passes the smell test. I don't care about her gender, race, nationality, or religion. I care if the story sounds like total horsesh1t or not and this one reeks to high heaven.

There is a Muslim support group raising money to sue United on her behalf since she has said she's not interested in suing them.

Whether or not that lawsuit comes to fruition will say a lot about the legitimacy of this story.

I can think of one reason to stay anonymous but it's going to get me labeled anti-Muslim again.

If someone speaks out against Tahera Ahmad, they could very well become the target of backlash from her supporters. Considering the fact that a small minority of people within the Muslim community are known for murdering folks because of a cartoon... I'd be afraid to speak up and call her a liar in public, as well.

That's the world we've created now thanks to the fear of committing "Islamophobia" being far worse than the fear of Muslims itself.

If she was Presbyterian, I guarantee it wouldn't be on every national news station, every online news source, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, etc. etc.

Well the last poke the bear session in arizona went off with no violence, guess they are not really all that ready to kill any one and everyone here in the states.

IMO this 'passenger' that came forward is staying anonymous for other reasons.
Like being able to back this story up reasons...
Which is just my opinion, I am not claiming I have facts to back that up.

It is not an interview, it is a post on an online forum. Link is somewhere a few pages back.

OK.... so, you don't believe her story, and you think its made up, because shes a muslim, and you are attempting to justify that by claiming that no one would speak out against it because of ....muslims.

But you'd be happy if the claim had come from any other source?

Now you're jumping on that bandwagon as well?

Where have I said that I don't believe the story because she's a Muslim?

Where have I said that I would believe it if it came from another source? I explicitly said that I would still question the story just as strongly if it was posted by anyone else.

The only point that I made in that post regarding Muslims is that a person who's basically speaking up and calling her a liar would wish to remain anonymous to avoid backlash. I know I would.

Well then just like this woman, the account would have to be substantiated.
