There are some things everyone should have basic human decency to feel sympathy for, and this is one of them.

That's horrible news for he and his family. I feel bad for them.

This is a lot of tragedy for this family. To loose two children? I can only imagine the pain.
It doesn't matter how old a child is they are still your children. My heart certainly goes out to Joe and his family.

Maybe this will trigger the government to start taking a look at food chemistry that is causing cancer instead of just throwing money into finding better ways to treat it. It takes a high ranking person to die before things change in this country.

By all accounts he wasn't.

I've certainly never heard anything about him at all. As was pointed out earlier, he was one of the few children of high level politicians who've served in any capacity in the US military.

Fourteen years as a lawyer in JAG. Two kids. Delaware attorney general.

Ummm...

Mr Vice President...Sir may I call you Joe...?
My heart and prayers to you extend
May all of foible not contend
May grace on you bestow

Words alone can never grasp
Nor understand the pain
But strength I send as my hands clasp
I gift you this refrain

If truth exists in some beyond
Your son will surely find
A wonder matched by your sure bond
And you a peace of mind

Mr Vice President...Sir may I call you Joe...?
My thoughts to you and yours I send
May true compassion name you friend
That grace be all you know

I have set aside any fault I former found...may I never pick them up again...May we all leave difference behind...
May we finally be bridges that cross whatever gap that keeps us locked in a broken world...thinking broken thoughts...

"Not to be a dreamer...yet to dream"...

Unlike you I don't care to know first names of your American overlords.

I am not American.

Not American, and apparently not human either. If you don't care to know, then why the f*** did you ask?

We know you're not American, all you blabber about is your anti-American nonsense. Someone lost their life to Cancer, show a little respect. ~$heopleNation

As though that wasn't evident enough, but had you read the source that was linked you could have saved yourself from asking stupid questions.

It doesn't matter if your American or not, asking stupid questions is a global thing.

Westboro Baptish Church are on Twitter threatening to show up and picket his funeral already.

That is one group I would have no problems with the government violating their rights.

Those are about as close to non human as one can get, luckily the smart ones have left that shall I say cult disguised as a church.

Yeah, some of the things they've been saying lately are disgusting.

They're getting more extreme in their verbiage for sure.

I have to agree with this...

Legally recognize Westboro Baptist Church as a hate group.

The problem is they hide behind the constitution and really there isn't anything anyone can do about it.

I believe people need to show up to their protests and provide them with enough incentive that they think twice about their practices.

And here are some what the anti Westboro protests have looked like...

www.huffingtonpost.com...

Finally Americans are fighting back without violence.

My inclination is to agree with you. I despise everything that bunch of dim bulbs stands for.

But...

My second thought is curtail them, and who'd be next?

I'm certainly not saying we can't condemn them for their utterly reprehensible views, or even counter protest 'em. That's as much our right, as it is theirs to spew their venom... Think of us as anti-venom.

But shut 'em down? No. That's slippery slope that leads no where good.

MHO, of course. Feel free to disagree.

Seriously? I'm sure the funeral will be here in town and just around the corner from me. If Westboro shows up here, I'm tempted to picket them.

I really can't.

If we do stop them from their rights to protest...how radical will the next group be?

I don't have a problem with protesting, but when it is done at funerals that is where it becomes a problem for me.

Sometimes the 1st amendment really does come back to bite us in the rear.

Yeah it's pretty much their mantra on all of their Twitter pages since this thread opened.

Vitriol doesn't seem to describe their ghastly nonsense.
