So I just found this, has anyone seen these new pics of Ceres? Much closer, more detailed pic yet no lights. Here is the link scitechdaily.com...

Did the pic get edited? Is that the crater that the lights originated from?

It pretty obviously isn't, is it?

That's because the picture you are referring to...

...is not a picture of the crater with the "light":

No conspiracy. Just plain looking at the wrong place.

Well that explains it, why did they not focus on the most interesting part?

Now that is a good question indeed.

I have an inkling that they will want to withhold the better-rez images of the bright spots until the science teams involved in the mission take a good look at them and get a chance to make discoveries.

is it me or does the small crater shadow to the far right within the large crater pictured look unnatural or doctored?

Are these black and white photos or is that "color" without very much saturation? Does anybody know?

Looks similar to our own moon - thanks for sharing. Imagine the mind-blowing photos we'll start to see in the next few years with better technology and a (seemingly) renewed interest in the cosmos. Great stuff

Wish it was about 10 times closer so we could see exactly what the bright spots are

is my idea or many craters have linear arrangement. This is especially noticeable in the smaller ones.

Yes, what's interesting there is the much smaller source of light, *(arrowed) overlapping one of the two near identical light sources on the far right, it seems like that smaller light source has a ridge around it, which needs to be sloping away and down from the other lights, that or a ridge climbing up that is so dark the brightness is not affecting it.

*Preview is not working, so I hope you can see all, I will add the file link once I have made the reply.

Not sure what the big deal is
haven't you ever seen one of these?

So two questions, if it is Ice then we could assume that it was originally much larger and has melted right?

If not, and admittedly its not the clearest picture, but that mass of lights in the far right of the crater seemes to be a tower and, again bad image, but it looks like it has a spire as well. In fact the whole thing looks more like a Complex of some sort than most of images ive seen. Maybe all that reflectivity is just a sign of some kind of radiation shielding. In that sense, couldnt it all be gold or gold shielded?

Your link at the bottom has a nice shot! If you look close in the upper right quadrant of that image, the play of light and shadow create some pretty cool 'artifacts'!!!
