i Like it,

i like the idea behind it,

as an entire race, we are going to need to operate together and pull resources to properly explore space, once we work as a race instead of silly countries split by silly fictional borders then we might actually get somewhere.

the idea we will be associated with groups whom have less than favorable views on the human race is laughable, especially as on this thread we have British, American, South African people posting who (i hate to shock you) all have very very Jaded pasts regarding the mistreatment of their fellow humans.

Generally speaking Most Humans are ok, yes there are fundamentalists and wrong folk in every race and religion but to presume that first - they would have any input regarding any space travel or interaction with theoretical Alien species and second - that they would even be following their petty Human beliefs and issues if we were to successfully either find and colonize a planet or interact with an Alien species seems like missing the bigger picture.

For example, if any religious based beliefs were what you worry about being associated with then you need not worry, most Religions fall over if there is a creature on another planet let alone one which we could communicate with on the level that we could class as in any way intelligent.

So lets embrace the idea of the unified Space exploring Earth people...it be what we need

or it might be a NWO ploy who knows??

Yeah, who knows - one world government?

I mean, I like the gist of your train of thought.
Surely no group of people should deny their past (even if current generations weren't responsible), and all people have a bad history somewhere, not just the usual culprits of the leftists (like they should talk, with their legacy of tyrannical socialist regimes), while they blatantly ignore current slavery in parts of the Sudan, Mauritania, Yemen, and so forth, and the Islamic clerics who support it.

I never spoke about bad "people", but bad "ideologies".

It doesn't matter so much in this thread what the cultural impact of meeting aliens would be on human society (although quite a few religions see them as plausible [the Vatican recently] or even key to their mythology [ask a Vaishnava/Hare Krishna]).

I'd question whether it's a good idea to send symbols into space that purport to represent all of humanity, when humanity is clearly not united.

I think i's kind of funny that we'd think a "flag" of any sort would be so important and meaningful to a group of beings who were so advanced compared to us. A flag seems to me so be so telling of our immaturity as a species of beings. IMHO.

Maybe they couldn't care less, and eat the flag as a snack.
But we just don't know.

Just don't send stuff in the name of all Earthlings when that is a false pretense.

Ha, or the nutritional value of the average human, in case some aliens are counting calories and on a diet.

They mobilized for war, sent their giant army, and attacked.

That's a fair interpretation of Mars Attacks.
I'd still view it differently.
After-all, the humans were just as prepared for war as the Martians (just their weapons were useless in the movie), but it didn't mean they actively sought war.

Both sides brought weapons as a precaution, but the dove clearly peeved the Martians and went beyond any political correctness in their culture.
I guess if you have a huge exposed brain without a skull, birds can be quite scary.

flags were not called flags until modern day they were called standards for many years in different languages but in the end they all mean flags

I remember the last time someone tried to unite the world under one flag...

Speaking strickly as an artist one color is quite BORING at least color the central portion or somewhere with white, red ,yellow and black to represent all races figuratively.

Incidentally, I recently saw a YouTube lecture on aliens by David Wilcock, and one of his many claims is that the Nazis made a pact with one group of aliens and built a swastika-shaped base on the dark side of the moon.
So that flag might already be flying somewhere is space.
Who knows?

Why not?
If things go pear-shaped the aliens will know exactly which part of the planet to aim their ray-guns at.

I think a pirate flag would just about sum us up as a society......maybe just add a boy who is all skin and bone from the 3rd world just for realism....
