I mean, I like the gist of your train of thought.
Surely no group of people should deny their past (even if current generations weren't responsible), and all people have a bad history somewhere, not
just the usual culprits of the leftists (like they should talk, with their legacy of tyrannical socialist regimes), while they blatantly ignore
current slavery in parts of the Sudan, Mauritania, Yemen, and so forth, and the Islamic clerics who support it.
I never spoke about bad "people", but bad "ideologies".
It doesn't matter so much in this thread what the cultural impact of meeting aliens would be on human society (although quite a few religions see them
as plausible [the Vatican recently] or even key to their mythology [ask a Vaishnava/Hare Krishna]).
I'd question whether it's a good idea to send symbols into space that purport to represent all of humanity, when humanity is clearly not united.
