I am surprised that this hasn't popped up here on ATS yet!

I cant say it shook my apartment good however I felt some small shaking considering the distance from epicenter.
Its the talk of Las Vegas right now. They closed the spaghetti bowl interstate connector due to some small damage.

I was in Utah for a few days on a fishing trip earlier this week and I felt shaking from another earthquake 100 miles away too.

Anyway this is just an FYI. However could this be a precursor to maybe a quake again here in Nevada or even one coming to California!? I know cali is overdue. Be safe all.

I've got to tell you I was here all day in Vegas and didn't feel a thing. I was probably driving to my child's school, so maybe being in car stopped me from feeling anything. All of a sudden this quake started showing up all over my facebook feed. LOL

Is that north of Vegas? I'm checking now...

North of Vegas 100 miles is the infamous area 51..

I see it is at area 51.. They must have let some of the critters loose..

It has, though not in it's own thread.

This is an interesting place for a quake though, I give you that.

Right!? lol Its a little further east then 51/s-4 however I have heard of tunnels underground running through there. Who knows what caused it. too many possibilities however jadedANDcynical linked above on the earthquake watch 2015 thread a report about this and a huge caldera I didn't know about so thank you for that jaded!

Maybe one of those "exotic" airframe pilots turned the antigravity drive on full, the wrong way!!!

This is by far the biggest US domestic quake in some time, too. There hasn't been anything 5+ in ages. Unsettling.

Is that a fault line running north south through the desert there, or is that a wash from the ridge above?

37°17'40.69"N 114°39'18.94"W

There is a dirt road running next to it anyone from the area know what that thing casting a shadow is?

Could this be an underground nuke test?..or a very large explosion .....I don't know much about this subject....is it even plausible?

Nah, no nuke testing there, and I think as a country we don't test nukes any more anyways..since 1992.

If it was a nuke, even underground, it would already be known from the seismic readings, so it wasn't. (hopefully)

Blasts do register earthquakes but there's a way to tell the difference , but I don't know how to myself.
