Interesting audio and video of the Chinese military bases in the disputed waters of the South China Sea. In the videos you can see that the Chinese are busy beavers building airstrips and infrastructure literally raising them out of the ocean. You can also hear audio from the Chinese navy telling the P-8 to "leave quickly".
It would be almost comical if it weren't for the potential danger involved.

Interesting to note is the layout of the inside of the P-8 as well as a good view of the kind of optics it has on board.

I may be wrong, but I think I see at least 33 ships/boats in the atoll towards the end of the video. If I'm right, it just goes to show the effort that the Chinese are putting into this area.

If I am wrong, maybe somebody with more knowledge could tell me what the things are!

I'm not sure of the exact number but there are a LOT of boats of different types down there.

Interesting to note as well is the Delta Airlines flight that radios in at the same time the P-8 and the Chinese navy were having their chat.

Another article of the same event with report from a CNN correspondent on the flight:

Years ago there was a Japan Airlines pilot reading back clearance to Honolulu, and kept saying Hickam instead of Honolulu on read back. They finally asked him and he said, "No say Honoruru very good. Say Hickam very well. "

Why is this sort of conversation taking place on 121.5 Mhz,the frequency reserved purely for emergency calls?

Say you fly into a new area, under military control. What frequency are my radios set to? How do I know what yours are set to?

Guard is used to get attention in military intercepts or when flying into an MOA.

Nice, look forward to the next Tsunami there.

So how do they design a new aircraft and yet the radio operator has to write on his armrest looking over his shoulder?. I would have had a lazeboy and panoramic window plus secretary.

What organisation are you talking about? And what is your gripe here?

Just read a rant from Summer7 on another thread and I think it's lost its marbles, happy to have my off topic post removed!

things like that are what help me believe in some sort of guiding hand on the universe lol.

Why exactly would the Chinese stuff all there boats in 1 spot like that? They are obviously not worried about a Threat, but Is there any practical purpose? Besides saying "you can own it if you can get more boats here!"

See, there we go. We don't need to "buy" an island, we just need to build one. We can make a race track to drag race semi trucks ...

I think a number of them might be dredging boats or ships dumping dirt to build up the island enough too build structures on.
